This dissertation examines the psycho-social aspects of grief and healing, the value of telling one's story in that process, and a study of Job and Psalms 112, 88, and 30 as theological commentary to the journey of grief and healing. The result is a grief workshop design, with comments by three evaluators. The premise applied was that a congregation needs to have opportunity to interact with the creation of its own unique mission statement to ensure the validity and implementation of its mission statement.  The developmental components included an initial all-church survey, an advisory council of key leadership representatives, an adult Sunday Bible school curriculum, a sermon series, deacon home meetings, congregational meetings, a subsequent all-church survey and a short quiz to test congregational ability to articulate the summary slogan of the church's mission statement. The writer trained select members of Trinity Baptist Church of Tracy to develop a marketing strategy using basic marketing principles.  The writer set out to make outreach more intentional and visible.  The writer developed an entry-level manual to educate lay persons in basic marketing theory; these lay persons comprised the marketing task force. Task force training occurred to develop and implement a simple marketing strategy.  The writer led the task force in marketing research, the writing of objectives and goals, and the formal writing of a marketing strategy. The task force implemented the plan over a six-month period.
