The project involved fourteen deacons during two six-week training sessions. The project produced fourteen new converts during the course of training.  The success of the project is attributed to the faithful and obedient leadership of key leaders who served as trainers.  The project has enhanced and expanded the evangelism ministry of the church. Volunteers received twelve hours of training and participated in three months of supervised ministry.  Those workers developed care strategies to meet the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of assigned clients. James Fowler's faith development interview provided a pre-retreat picture of the participants.  The leader used a regimen of spiritual exercises designed to evoke a powerful sense of God's presence for them.  The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Pearson's Heroic Myth Index, and self-projective artwork gave participants ways to engage their personal unconscious material. Action research utilizing an experimental and a control group tested the proposal that reciprocal self-disclosure acts as a catalyst in facilitating intimacy and individuality.  Pre- and posttests employed the Group Environment Scale and the Tennessee Self-Concept Scale.  Based on a significance level of .05, the experimental group revealed a significant increase in self-disclosure.  The control group did not. Neither group demonstrated significant statistical changes in intimacy and individuality. The section of the course on hermeneutics aimed to enable students to utilize the historical-grammatical method of interpretation.  The application section put the previous material to work in assessing the basic claims of five groups: the Pentecostal-Charismatic movement, the New Age movement, Roman Catholicism, Islam, and humanism.
