The methodology incorporated a two-item questionnaire, modified case studies, and follow-up interviews with four of the twenty-five participants.  The five categories from Women's Ways of Knowing by Belenky, et al, asessed each woman's level of individuation and differentiation. Six lay persons shared their vocational journeys in relation to work, lifestyle, and their calling in the Body of Christ.  They were prepared by classes, group meetings, and pastoral sermons and dialogue.  Evocative questions developed thinking about vocational meaning.  The project was grounded in biblical and ethical thought about vocation, psychological research in speech as commitment, and faith development through educational methodology. This project sought to carry out an experiment in caring ministry by training laypersons to care for the aged in the Donam community in Seoul, Korea. The results of pre- and posttests showed that the attitudes and beliefs of these laypersons regarding the nature and function of the church were significantly changed through participation in caring ministry. The author gathered information from four sources: the permanent deacons of this archdiocese; the priests with whom they minister; the local formation program; and the national office for the permanent diaconate in Washington, DC. The program was sponsored by the Northern Wisconsin District of the former American Lutheran Church.  The thesis was a response to two questions: who ministers to our clergy? where does the caregiver go to receive care?  The Mentor Project had four design facets: a mentor who was available to clergy; spiritual retreats; colleague groups; and fellowship groups.  The key to this project was the provision of mentors.  The pilot Mentor Project was a proven program which met the self-care needs of clergy participants. Volume 1 is a narrative description of the project, volume 2 the curriculum.  A high school curriculum was developed using Groome's method of shared Christian praxis to pass on the spirituality of the Order of Visitation. The curriculum was field-tested by two Visitation schools and deemed successful. It is commonly viewed as a necessary evil for the survival of the church.  This project explores the role of the sermon in developing healthy stewardship awareness and practice by following the homiletical preparation of five pastors during the traditional fall stewardship campaign.  Reactions of the congregations are recorded through case studies which come from a small sharing group within each church. This project tests a model for evangelism which emphasizes invitation, encounter with Christ, and involvement in the life and mission of the church.  Tested in a congregation for several years, the model proves a valuable tool for envisioning the task and for evaluating congregational effectiveness.  Evangelism is found to be a difficult task involving every aspect of congregational ministry.  Such an evaluation, and changes it may call for, may be threatening and involve taking risks. The material was field-tested for its effectiveness.  The theological thread in this thesis is the conviction that stewardship is a living out of the Christian's baptism.  The impact of the program is not limited only to the increase in benevolence. There was an approximate 25 per cent increase in worship attendance.
