Four categories of brokenness--divisiveness, arrogance, idolatry, and hardness of heart--gleaned through exegesis of Paul's letters to the Corinthians and the Ephesians are explored. Five ways of knowing for women--'silence,' as well as 'received,' 'procedural,' 'subjective,' and 'constructivist' knowing--attributed to Mary Belenky and her research group are considered. The methodology of the praxis circle, including the movements of formation, event, self-interest, theological assumptions, social science assumptions, and new praxis, is employed. Ten stories based on interviews are presented. Implications for pastoral counselors working with women experiencing ministerial burnout include the relevance of Paul's categories and Belenky's ways of knowing, the appropriateness of 'mending brokenness' as an image of reconciliation and the importance of storytelling in 'finding one's voice'."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128477291773952,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:00:26.177Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:26:46Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:11:49Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"bc339c48-1661-40f9-aa04-515395b257eb","accessControl_ssim":["e162bb8a-04df-43be-bc52-7de800b0be36"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Paraklesis: an integrative model of general and special revelation in lay counseling"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:26:45Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:33:16Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["2041619a-9afb-4686-9c41-80bb438ddbc4"],"hasLease_ssim":["0e224105-33a6-42a4-8b15-1d1f0573e9f1"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Talbot School of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["Gary L McIntosh"],"year_tesim":["1992"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Jonathan L McNeff"],"publisher_tesim":["Talbot School of Theology of Biola University"],"subject_tesim":["Counseling","Peer counseling in the church","Church work","Rolling Hills Covenant Church (Rolling Hills Estates, Calif)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This dissertation develops the thesis that a pastor/professional leadership team can effectively train non-professionals in a church setting to counsel in such a way that counselees experience genuine improvement. Future research and program development will continue to utilize the indigenous pilot group approach."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["55f1694e-f3f1-43ea-8ca9-da9a2899defe"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127846386663424,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:50:24.499Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:26:45Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:33:00Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"e5c0afb7-17b5-4b29-a432-c08e46fd813f","accessControl_ssim":["49bb409f-6b30-4d0b-b009-cb6ec9f19554"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Reparenting: how to be a child of God"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:26:44Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:42:11Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["0f0ab1ef-78ae-4aca-909a-731c7265cd37"],"hasLease_ssim":["73e66648-f254-48e7-a111-dc6d99f41944"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Talbot School of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["Gary L McIntosh"],"year_tesim":["1992"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["John R Shumate"],"publisher_tesim":["Talbot School of Theology of Biola University"],"subject_tesim":["Adoption (Theology)","Children of God","Christian life"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This dissertation motivates and guides Christians to grow closer to God and move away from their pasts. Since spirituality has been shown to be a significant factor in recovery, this program was designed with two prongs: instruction (10 one-hour sessions) and community service (35 hours), which provided ways to enhance the DUI participants' spiritual well-being. The ecumenical aspect enhanced the program by broadening the base of community support, which in turn offered the DUI participants a collective positive response from the community of faith."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["55f1694e-f3f1-43ea-8ca9-da9a2899defe"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128092415098880,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:54:19.130Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":13083,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"Dissertation","hits":46,"label":"Dissertation"},{"value":"Thesis","hits":9,"label":"Thesis"},{"value":"D.Min.
