Two tests were administered to the seminar group. The Intrinsic/Extrinsic scale designed by Gordon Allport was given to measure religious orientation.  A test designed by Howard Garfinkel was administered to measure the increase in differentiation of self from one's family of origin. The issue of God-forsakeness was examined from a biblical and historical perspective.  Problems posed by this kind of existential theodicy were examined, as were solutions which have been proposed.  A questionnaire discovered that 56 per cent of the congregation admitted to having felt forsaken by God. The vehicles employed to accomplish this task were a sermon series and an eight-week small group study.  The working hypothesis was that a more informed congregation should result in an attitude of greater acceptance of divorced persons in the congregation and in leadership roles.  The implementation of the project produced statistical data supporting the positive effectiveness of the project. The goal was to reach into homes previously unreached by the church. Research was conducted through a pretest mail survey and a posttest phone survey.  The survey instruments sought to discover awareness of ACTS and audience interest in possible television programs. These training sessions offered times for mutual support and dialogue among the families. The results of the project revealed that only slight growth was realized. The author theorized that an in-depth study of the historical, exegetical and theological bases for Christian baptism would foster attitudinal changes among members of this congregation toward accepting as members candidates who had been immersed as believers in non-Baptist churches.  Surveys taken prior to and following the study series indicated attitudinal changes which enhanced the possibility of a major policy change. To demonstrate this thesis, people were chosen randomly from six Lutheran congregations of various sizes and contexts for ministry.  Each person was given the Myers-Briggs Personality Indicator and a worship questionnaire.  The scores of these instruments were standardized and correlated, and the statistical evidence supported the thesis.  The implications of this study for a congregation's evangelism and worship planning are manifold.
