The results of a survey and evaluations revealed the religious needs and indicated an interest in continuing P.A.M. These workshops were designed to foster continuing education and personal growth relating to grief and anger issues faced in the hospital context.  Preworkshop and postworkshop questionnaires were used to gather information.  The preworkshop questionnaires showed an adequate understanding of both anger and grief. The pastoral concerns addressed through preaching emerged out of the economic crisis occasioned by a rapid decline in the heavy manufacturing industry of the Great Lakes region.  Pastoral care and preaching are brought together when the preacher who proclaims 'God is for us,' offers a vision that leads to growth in grace.  Such preaching becomes a form of pastoral care for the people of God. Through a program based upon the gestalt cycle of experience and conducted in a university context, alienated Catholics were encouraged to redefine their religious symbols. It also describes how the persons involved were enriched by developing skills and confidence in conflict management.
