Each of these actions is treated as a metaphor for a distinctive aspect of spiritual life for married people. The workshops equipped clergy to respond to victims and to use their prophetic calling to become their advocate."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Candler School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["1e360310-aec8-4e88-a19a-00b4db71ef4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134815532089344,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:41:10.794Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T01:06:44Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:47:35Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"4da472d4-5cee-41c6-a19c-b716522c2538","accessControl_ssim":["9db1d3cf-32f1-437e-8fd6-d7dc2adc3eb9"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Family life program to assist Caribbean immigrant families of Malton Seventh-Day Adventist Church adjust to Canadian culture"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T01:06:44Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:24:52Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["84b4255d-1d67-4d9e-ae46-445b6abbc620"],"hasLease_ssim":["e219ec28-2a0e-4c79-a497-58df61732e97"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Andrews University"],"advisor_tesim":["Walter B Douglas"],"year_tesim":["1990"],"location_tesim":["Canada","Caribbean Area"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Haskell G Edwards"],"publisher_tesim":["Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary of Andrews University"],"subject_tesim":["Malton Seventh-day Adventist Church (Malton, Canada)","Church work with families","Emigration and immigration","Religion and culture"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project is designed to address the pressing concern of adaptation of the Caribbean immigrant family to the Canadian cultural environment in the areas of unfulfilled expectations, spousal relationships, and parent-child and parent-teen relationships. The theological rationale is based on the three-dimensional definition of koinonia by Joseph Henry Thayer. The theoretical section provides a definition of koinonia and establishes criteria for the formation of koinonia groups. Historic and contemporary examples of small groups are then examined and evaluated using Thayer's definition of koinonia. The praxis section demonstrates the effectiveness of a koinonia group in a local church, and validates the results by both subjective and objective measurement."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Perkins School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["9d359def-dc0f-4ac7-a978-8df771bc0984"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791126898087034880,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:35:20.130Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T01:06:15Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:33:13Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"3cb6eb48-dec1-4f0d-b15b-ce343b8faf3f","accessControl_ssim":["b23b3b87-9bc4-4a58-a13d-f65b3e7eb53b"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Exploring narrative preaching as a means of communicating the doctrinal center of the Christian faith"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T01:06:14Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:53:22Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["eca2b43b-8fd4-40ac-8964-56526bf8fb1d"],"hasLease_ssim":["309f87b9-7632-4c74-9bb8-44ff5e7699a4"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Perkins School of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["Virgil P Howard"],"year_tesim":["1990"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Don Holladay"],"keyword_tesim":["Jesus Christ--History of doctrines"],"publisher_tesim":["Perkins School of Theology Southern Methodist University"],"subject_tesim":["Narrative theology","Jesus Christ","Narrative preaching"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this project was to test, through a series of narrative sermons, the capacity of narrative preaching to convey Christology through indirect communication. In the theoretical section, the nature of narrative as a means of social and personal change is described. An extensive theoretical chapter examines narrative from a theological, biblical, and sociological point of view. Another chapter describes how the action phase of the project unfolded. It includes brief description of the sermons, as well as the process by which the evaluative instruments were determined. The overall conclusion of the project is that these particular narrative sermons were not as effective in conveying faith-learning, particularly Christology, as a more traditional, mixed style of preaching. However, there was some indication that younger hearers, and those less involved in regular worship tended to respond more positively to the narrative sermon series."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Perkins School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["9d359def-dc0f-4ac7-a978-8df771bc0984"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791126768661299200,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:33:16.700Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":13083,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"Dissertation","hits":46,"label":"Dissertation"},{"value":"Thesis","hits":9,"label":"Thesis"},{"value":"D.Min.
