Ministry referral considers community helping professionals to be partners in ministry.  In this project, eight church program leaders were trained to make appropriate referrals during a twelve session training course.  Training methods included resource persons, outside assignments and case studies.  Evaluation was based on a pre-test and post-test unit evaluation form and an application questionnaire. Sessions were videotaped for future use. Research included the reading of relevant books, the administration of a questionnaire and interviews and the use of inventive  instruments. Trainings given to the laity and their reflections and opinions helped actualize the project.  Consultations and studies with the professional pastors played a vital role in the work.  The project removed many of the doubts of the laity regarding their roles in their churches.  It also moved the pastors to accommodate their laity in church ministry. The library staff made a library holdings list.  They collected information from local media sources and put this in a media list for faculty use.  The library bought, borrowed and produced media for faculty and made long range buying plans.  A workshop was held to train faculty in the coordination of audio-visual media with curriculum and in the hands-on use of equipment. Faculty members said the project met their audio-visual media needs. The author conducted seven sessions with the staff of Union Baptist Association in Norman, Oklahoma which provided the foundational concepts of his system.  The theological bases included a positive view of redeemed man and the subsequent gifts bestowed by the Holy Spirit on believers. The theoretical bases were the bi-polar view of personality, teamship considered as a management style and affirmation (positive reinforcement) as the primary motivator. Questionnaires were sent to over two hundred interested persons.  Study groups took the information and concluded that the greatest needs of the directors of associational missions and their wives relate to isolation.  Support groups were enlisted in four associations.  The design of the support meeting included planned activities to break down barriers, share and prayer time and informal conversation and games. Four seminars held in the fall of 1986 were designed to explore how people age and how adult children can cope effectively with their parents in the new relationship which aging creates. The seminars included one session on understanding the aging process, another on relating to aging parents, a third on caring for aging parents and a fourth on available community resources. The experimental group participated in a five hour training seminar.  Both groups took an objective test. Each member of the groups was evaluated as he or she led a decision-making encounter.  A comparison of the scores of the experimental and control groups was the basis of the project evaluation. The author selected eight people from the church for training and sought to inculcate within them the need to do personal evangelism. The trainees were required to participate in three field practices: people search visits, street evangelism and home visits.  Eight persons also were recruited as members of a control group.  They filled out the same questionnaires taken by the trainees before and after training.
