The central focus is a workshop methodology which is progressive in design, content, and format, and is based on principles of androgogy. The workshops give: 1) an experience of shared Christian praxis by using the theme 'coming to know God'; 2) a knowledge, practical understanding and an opportunity to use shared Christian praxis; 3) a demonstration of how the Sadlier Religion Program uses shared Christian praxis as a teaching-learning process in the K-8 curriculum; 4) a redefinition of shared Christian praxis which enables classroom religion teachers to use the process effectively. The workshops are designed to educate religion teachers in Catholic school religion programs and in parishes. The need was addressed through Bible study, fellowship, six evangelistic worship and preaching services, congregational response and evaluation, the response of a working committee of six persons, evaluation and critical reflection with the preacher. The content of the messages preached emphasized the non-negotiable essentials of the Christian message as the kerygma for the context. The thesis of the project was that kerygmatic preaching plays a central role in the local church's ministry of leading people to the experiential relationship with God in Christ by the Holy Spirit. The men's responses, decisions and demands for such preaching on Sunday morning showed the necessity for such preaching. The church has increased from a new work in August of 1980 to 10,000 participants by August of 1985. Its growth has come about largely through the extraordinary ability of pastor Tim Timmons to communicate to young, unchurched middle-class Americans and the church's highly organized commitment to forming small group ministries to meet the various needs of those who attend the church. The study suggests ways in which other pastors and congregations can adapt the methods employed by pastor Timmons and his church with reasonable expectations for accelerated growth."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791125552579477504,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:13:56.954Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:07:29Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:58:31Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"02f42019-3af2-4938-8348-16012d399100","accessControl_ssim":["51f5fc25-aaba-4bb0-adf5-c8fcc3bae0ca"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A proposal for rites of Christian initiation, exploration and discipleship and the implications for congregational curriculum and liturgy"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:07:28Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:12:07Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["79f66dfa-241b-465e-8983-e4ed8b30a167"],"hasLease_ssim":["3c6f95b6-2ff3-4c53-bb8a-2a8b242cb6c6"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["St Stephen's College (Edmonton, AB)"],"year_tesim":["1986"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Stan Errett"],"publisher_tesim":["St. Stephen's College University of Alberta"],"subject_tesim":["Liturgies","Christian education","Developmental psychology","Education--Curricula","Baptism","Confirmation","Church membership"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project brings more clarity to the confusing issue of how one becomes a member of the Christian church.
