The project employed education and behavior modeling strategies with new and current members to urge deeper, all-encompassing commitment to Jesus through increased, regular involvement in worship, prayer, Bible study, and personal testimony. Pretests and posttests were used to establish each attendee's knowledge, attitudes and behavior and the amount of gain after each of six teaching sessions. He explored how the experience of these survivors is reflected or not in the liturgical and social documents of the Roman Catholic Church and expressed in the Hispanic liturgical tradition. Following the method of practical theology, i.e., a praxis-theory-praxis approach, the author began with the stories of torture survivors and considered these interviews in relation to different elements of the U.S. Hispanic community. They suggest that the practice of communal Bible study may be the key to re-forming the witness of local congregations. This project applies a missional hermeneutic, through the use of particular study questions, to the practice of communal Bible study in a local congregation. Discoveries made by participants are consistent with a 'missional church' understanding.
