The ability of Christian Horizons to continue as such is dependent upon a clear articulation of its reasons for existence to thousands of employees and to its stakeholders. In the organizations 45 year history, it has grown to become one of the largest ministries of its type in Canada. The idea of a strategic and articulated organizational culture is a new consideration for Christian Horizons. It has become obvious that a method for evaluating systems with values is critical. If the organization is to fulfill its mission 'To serve the person with exceptional needs,' a clear method of aligning mission with the value statement, 'We will honor God and value people in all we do and with all our resources,' must be created. What is proposed is a framework based on Christian Horizons 'Responding to the Call' principles that can guide organizational thinking. By applying the framework, organizational decisions, processes, and behaviors can be explored using a common tool."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129951229968384,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:23:51.834Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:22:36Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:43:44Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"6d9a0f78-0402-4751-840c-17bbbfc20cc2","accessControl_ssim":["9a75842a-db6e-4a70-a512-60029586f195"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Exploring the worship pastor as leader in the contemporary evangelical church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:22:35Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:20:36Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["95aa972c-73c6-453b-9c1d-12f1d300c085"],"hasLease_ssim":["c4f23d90-f386-4db0-9916-f495e4689cee"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Steven W Klipowicz"],"year_tesim":["2011"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Jody W Cross"],"keyword_tesim":["Shepherds--Religious aspects--Christianity"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Shepherds","Worship","Clergy--Office","Service (Theology)","Christianity","Religion","Evangelicalism"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["In light of the rapidly changing worship culture in the evangelical church, this study explored the worship pastor as shepherd leader. Though this is a frequent occurrence, the nature and unique stresses present in this type of family is not well-understood or explored within the counseling literature. The term Jewish intercultural families is used in this thesis rather that the more commonly used term, interfaith, because it is the emphasis of this thesis that while the couples' differences may contain a faith element, it is in essence a cultural difference. An approach is explored which encourages couples to think more broadly about the range of options available for them, by exploring five categories: identity, community, traditions, faith and extended family. Until recently, marriage and family therapists have been very reluctant to separate the ideas of religion, spirituality and culture. It is the conviction of this thesis that not only is this a critical part of helping Jewish intercultural families, but that a Christian approach to counseling in particular can help couples see the possibility of spiritual unity while maintaining communal and ethnic diversity."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131942813433856,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:55:31.156Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:22:03Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:04:21Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"d009889a-7e65-425b-84f7-d2e33e430c42","accessControl_ssim":["c98089ab-e067-454c-99fa-144cc2bf6ab5"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["How to help a Christian executive integrate his theology into his work"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:22:00Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:05:09Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["c89c5c69-7276-47a4-9016-9d0b300753aa"],"hasLease_ssim":["6464eef7-4a60-4ef1-936e-9870a25bbfd0"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Haddon W Robinson"],"year_tesim":["2011"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Michael R Stewart"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership","Religion in the workplace","Church work with executives","Work--Religious aspects--Christianity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This thesis project will develop a program to help Christian executives integrate their faith into their work. Although many of these principles can be used cross-culturally, I chose to research and write specifically in the African-American context because this is my cultural background. There is such a great need for ways, strategies, and ideas that will decrease the divorce rate in this community. The problem with a strict post-modern view is its inability to respond to the enormous amount of hurting family systems in dire need of healing. I strongly believe that marriages and families can improve greatly given the right tools and information. The most effective for clergy and counselors alike in this post-modern era is the model that combines psychological theories with biblical principles. With 1.2 billion people who belong to 4,693 ethnic groups and speak more than 400 languages it still is home to the largest number of unreached people groups in the world. The greatest need that the Indian church faces in the 21st century is for large numbers of dedicated and well-trained servant-leaders to serve the existing congregations and to reach the remaining unreached people groups and languages with the gospel. It is widely recognized that the prevalent dominant paradigm of training has many weaknesses that are adversely affecting the health of the church. This study looks at the ministries of a modality and sodality (Christian Evangelistic Assemblies and Bharat Susamachar Samiti/New Theological College) that have been closely working together with some success for more than two decades in northern India to learn principles that might help to alleviate these weaknesses. At first we briefly look at the history of the church and theological education in India. Then we look at the way the modality and sodality have worked together. From these we have chosen six principles which we believe are keys in alleviating the weaknesses of the prevalent existing paradigm of theological education/Christian leadership training."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131559584071680,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:49:25.680Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:21:35Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:10:14Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"efa144bf-0564-42c6-b77f-f9c3cd5c6971","accessControl_ssim":["81f1f020-1c47-4a05-a98e-b3958a5d0e15"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Recommunicating biblical narrative to post-literate Salvation Army congregations"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:21:34Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:58:27Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e3c8b255-63cf-4caa-8fad-69e01614cb38"],"hasLease_ssim":["aedf51d8-0fef-481f-a4d5-70946eae31a9"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Jeffrey Arthurs"],"year_tesim":["2011"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Carl E Carvill"],"keyword_tesim":["Preaching, Salvation Army"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Rhetoric","Mass media and culture","Expository preaching","Communication--Religious aspects--Christianity","Narrative theology"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["When William Booth founded the Salvation Army in 1860, he implemented innovative preaching and worship styles. They remain in use today. This thesis-project argues that the changing ecology of communication demands that Salvation Army preachers adapt to the current communications environment. The theology and praxis of revivalism remain malleable enough to serve the present age, and the grace reflected in the Army's social work outreach is easily understood, but a style of preaching stuck in Victorian rhetorical convention is ineffective. This thesis-project surveys the history of preaching within the Salvation Army and alternative ways to portray Scripture to listeners attuned to the electronic post-everything age. Research elicited feed forward and feed back survey responses from a congregation to whom a Salvation Army minister delivered sermons in modern style. The author concludes that training Salvation Army preachers to recommunicate biblical narrative effectively will enable them to communicate better to post-literate Salvation Army congregations."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132875079286784,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:10:20.234Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:21:25Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:42:06Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"664ddc99-dd95-42db-b087-090c6d2937ec","accessControl_ssim":["dd6d47d2-11c7-45cc-ab2e-acfc1bc8914f"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Equipping site pastors within multi-site congregations"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:21:24Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:07:23Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["5a847635-bc9a-4e1e-a041-973d2bec4d0e"],"hasLease_ssim":["f64d7475-bf05-4a25-b94a-a5a10e0e5586"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Sid Buzzell","Haddon W Robinson"],"year_tesim":["2011"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Jason D Bunger"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Multi-site churches","Church management","Church group work"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The aim of this project is to equip teaching pastors in multi-site congregations to preach live messages at each individual site that are consistent with the biblical text, congruent with one another and contextualized for the local venue.
