The study was conducted by exploring several popular resources on pastoral theology and examining their emphasis on (or lack of) union with Christ. Additionally, qualitative research was conducted with twelve pastors who serve in the Presbyterian Church in America. The heuristic model was developed using the methodology of action research with four participation groups at Mount Hamilton Baptist Church to cultivate awareness and facilitate practices of faithful presence. The model is based on Epistle of James, the life of Jesus and adapts David Kolb's experiential learning paradigm. Data collection tools included: a questionnaire, interviews, and journal logs. Each generation of church leaders must consider how they will empower the coming generations toward ministry fruitfulness. This study examined the process and intentionality of leadership development in Bible churches in the Greater Houston area. A comparative analysis of Paul's development of Timothy, from 1-2 Timothy, as well as secondary literature, books written the past 10 years, read by Bible church pastor's and face-to-face interviews provided insights for this researcher to aid pastors in their development of leaders. Working with clergy and churches in my region of South Los Angeles, the methodology included: congregational surveys, clergy interviews, sermon series, an online training course, and post-training follow-up. Tongan traditional religion which formed Tongan culture and society still impacts Tongan Christianity. Traditional religious culture has a hierarchical structure which has influenced all segments of society and even Christian beliefs and practices. Immigrant churches have adopted the same hierarchical structure and added other social status, such as wealth and achievement, which create more physical and psychological barriers in the church community. The social issues add up to an unhealthy church, ministry, and Tongan community at large that causes divisions among families. This project relies heavily on historical research to identify the ways in which Christianity as a fledgling religion was able to succeed against the great religions of the Greco-Roman world. Finally, the project concludes that Christianity brought a gospel of hope to the world full of haplessness, especially to the masses in the Greco-Roman world. Christianity created a new community that served the needs of the destitute, generated a sense of belonging, welfare/health agency, and treated everyone inclusively with equality. The first section of this project addresses death. It explores such authorities as psychiatrist Irvin Yalom who wrote regarding the momentous importance of death and its role in shaping one's life perspective. The focus of quoted sources and of the author is that death needs to be confronted as a life-empowering change; especially the lives and death competence of chaplains and clergy. Only through such change will chaplains and clergy be unfettered to teach, model, and assist others, in confronting the destructive forces of death anxiety and fear of death. Exploring death anxiety and fear of death, defines death anxiety while discussing the relationship between death anxiety and fear. Fear of death has a focus, a primary concern. Most scholars conclude that three primary concerns comprise fear of death: Thoughts of a punishing afterlife; dread of annihilation; and the physical pain that may be felt while dying. The project explains how an integration of knowledge, skills, and competences is critical to preparing the chaplain/clergy for effective ministry. A pretest and posttest assessed the level of well-being and the variety of active connections. The paired samples t-test lacked statistical significance. Ethnographic interviews assessed the change in personal connection and a reflection paper assessed a participant's motivation to extend this ministry. Through the cases study in Hong Kong, the process of counseling will be described. A Sunday school course of 8 chapters are introduced. The key to their empowerment is the daily resolution of inner conflicts. My project brought together six men in ten weekly sessions to train them in and practice of spiritually reading the Bible.
