Philippians","Christian education"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this ministry research project is to increase the knowledge of transurban discipleship at Jordan Missionary Baptist Church of Lancaster, Texas (JMBC). Chapter 1 illuminates the history and the ministry context of JMBC’s African American membership and the goals of this project. Chapter 2 provides an exegesis of three passages of Scripture (Luke 14:25–35, 1 Kings 19:19–21, and Philippians 3:17–21) that examine biblical principles regarding personal Christian discipleship along with a brief overview of the usage of μαθητής (disciple) concerning Jesus’ command to “go make disciples” in the Great Commission. Chapter 3 examines relevant scholarship that presents a rationale for transurban discipleship by exposing racial discipleship while espousing and embracing Black evangelical theology. Chapter 4 describes the project itself, recounting the content and training method of the specific curriculum used as well as the measure utilized to determine if project goals were achieved. Chapter 5 evaluates the efficacy of the project based on the completion of specified goals. Over the next five-to-ten years, decisions made by the local church will either prepare it for closure or seize the future for the Kingdom. The Western Church loses the second-largest generation when the Baby Boomers [Boomers] either die or become unable to continue attending and serving.Is the church prepared? Is the church constructing a succession plan for when the Boomers are gone? The church will experience extreme shifts during this transition in leadership style, methodology, authenticity, polity, structure, and behavior. This project sought to understand the complexities of the coming generational transition and provide a starting point through the development of the change readiness of First Baptist Church [FBCC], Crowley, Texas.The results of the project revealed an increase in change readiness for organizational succession planning after a sermon series designed to promote understanding and readiness toward change. Chapter 1 presents the history and ministry context of Mayhill Baptist Church and the goals of this project. Chapter 2 provides exegesis of several passages of Scripture (Eph 4:11-12; Matt 28:16-20; various passages in the Gospels, Romans, and Acts; Heb 3:12-14) to show that God commands pastors to equip the saints and every saint to make disciples. Chapter 3 posits the position that for ministry effectiveness to occur, the load of evangelism is not carried only by the pastor, but by every member of the church. Chapter 4 describes the project itself, including the timing and teaching methodology along the way. Chapter 5 evaluates the success of the project based on the completion of specified goals.
