The researcher conducted a biblical review of female prophets from the Bible, in particular, from the Old Testament. Grounded in positive psychology, four developmental areas framed the inquiry into the leadership development process, each representing an area of identity work. A close-ended survey and open-ended interview protocol were used. Part I evaluates exegetical evidence and Old Testament studies literature to show continuity between prophets and preachers. Both are essentially messengers of God, apply past redemption and future hope to contemporary issues, and minister by the power of the Holy Spirit. Part II compares recent rhetorical analysis of the prophets' oracles to current literature on the practice of homiletics. She engaged the leadership in a six-month Bible study designed to engage the Old Testament prophets as a foundation for the work of prophets today.
