For any change to happen, as well as for any possible solutions, leaders of Haitian churches will need to be educated. Traditionally, this task of preparing full-time church leaders has been given to the seminary without any examination of the other options available. Through case study and grounded theory, this project revealed seven components that can address this problem. These components are essential whether the leadership development process is in partnership with a seminary or whether it is completely church-based. Together they demonstrate that when pastors and churches set themselves to preparing their hearts for renewing, God sends it. The paper begins with a historical overview of the origins of the Bible Society movement, with a particular view to New England, and the development of state Bible societies from 1809 to the present, drawn primarily from original source materials. The project analyses the mission statements and activities of the Bible societies and considers the issues facing those agencies today. The research shows that the Bible societies have had an effective ministry through their close connection to churches and their commitment to serve the whole
