As a two-year experience, the residency integrates nine core competencies with which to accomplish pastoral formation. Spurred by a biblical vision of shepherding and life-on-life mentorship, the study asks in what ways and to what extent\r\nis the residency achieving its stated objectives, falling short of its stated objectives, and what changes should be made to better achieve its stated objectives? Using a qualitative case-study design, the project conducted interviews with six current residents, the residency director, and the church’s leadership team. Findings were analyzed through thematic coding and verification procedures to connect evidence to the stated goals of the project. The project’s outcomes included a thick description of residents’ lived formation in the residency, identification of program strengths and weaknesses, and an outlay of actionable recommendations to strengthen mentorship practices for the experience."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1866642195744817152,"timestamp":"2026-05-30T19:18:40.002Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2026-05-30T17:40:37Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2026-05-30T17:40:38Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"107f0ac4-c393-4823-b371-873b19750710","accessControl_ssim":["af0cb6b4-b975-4edc-85af-a5e498c57307"],"depositor_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"title_tesim":["Reformissional Discipleship: A Strategy for Renewing the Discipleship Effort in an Orthodox Presbyterian Congregation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2026-05-30T17:40:37Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2026-05-30T17:40:37Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["c8199f3e-0160-4001-8e74-0172fb382291"],"hasLease_ssim":["370c812d-8127-47f5-85cf-65511dfa4ed6"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry "],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity International University"],"year_tesim":["2026"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Although the congregation verbally affirms Reformed preaching, worship, and government, the study found that discipleship is often understood and practiced in broadly evangelical rather than distinctly Presbyterian and Reformed categories, and many participants\r\ndemonstrated limited ability to articulate core Presbyterian and Reformed convictions. As a result, confessional identity, theological continuity, and intentionally Reformed disciple formation have become less clearly articulated and consistently practiced in the congregation. The project develops a theological and theoretical framework through an examination of Reformed discipleship, missional discipleship, and their integration into a proposed model\r\ntermed Reformissional Discipleship. Reformissional Discipleship is defined as a confessionally grounded approach to disciple-making that maintains the primacy of covenant theology, worship, ecclesiology, and the ordinary means of grace while fostering faithful participation in the missio Dei through the life and ministry of covenant community. Using a mixed-method action research design, the study employed a congregational survey, a focus group with the Committee on Edification, and semi-structured interviews with members and church leaders. Findings revealed strong appreciation for preaching, worship, and\r\nrelational fellowship, but also limited shared understanding of discipleship and a lack of intentional structures for disciple-making. To contribute to more effective ministry among young adults, this project examined the church-related experiences of Chinese immigrant believers aged 22–40 in the Metro Detroit area, with particular attention to how church ministries addressed their felt\r\nneeds. This study employed surveys, direct observations, and interviews to collect both qualitative and quantitative data from the target population. Findings indicated that their most significant needs included career development, building healthy family relationships, and cultivating a meaningful relationship with God. Participants generally preferred to address these needs through self-directed learning and personal growth. Their primary concerns involved uncertainty about the future, anxiety related to major life decisions, and pressures arising from daily responsibilities. Most respondents considered themselves sufficiently mature to manage these concerns independently; only when encountering challenges beyond their capacity did they become more open to external guidance and support. Although socializing and forming friendships were not high priorities for many participants, they valued fellowship groups that offer meaningful interaction and shared interests. Effective fellowship, in their view, provided opportunities to share personal experiences, observe life examples, and receive support when needed. For most participants, church ministries have been successful in creating such fellowship environments, resulting in strong involvement, engagement, and enjoyment. However, the findings also suggested that church ministries have been less effective in helping these young adults cultivate a deeper relationship with God and in guiding them toward wholehearted commitment to Christ.\r\nThis study offered recommendations for strengthening the process of passing faith to young believers, including addressing their practical and spiritual needs, supporting their spiritual growth, and motivating them to live as committed disciples and witnesses of Christ."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1866555272941535232,"timestamp":"2026-05-29T20:17:03.957Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2026-01-20T20:07:24Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2026-01-20T20:07:26Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"5096671c-abc6-4eae-a8bd-21500a56858d","accessControl_ssim":["5d99dbe8-2181-49c7-8269-b8ac552a74d5"],"depositor_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"title_tesim":["The Impact of Missional Community Adopts a Holistic Approach of \"Body-Mind-Spirit-Communal Relationship\" as a Strategy to Help Addicts Recover, Transform into Christlikeness, and Integrate into the Christian Community and Church Life"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2026-01-20T20:07:24Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2026-01-20T20:07:24Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["10f7b925-5481-44ba-9b5f-a6ce0aa8c8a6"],"hasLease_ssim":["a683ccda-f983-439a-92c8-143a5e604661"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity International University"],"year_tesim":["2025"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. It addresses two key research questions: (1) the internal and external factors influencing church multiplication, and (2) the role of theological\r\nframeworks in shaping these practices. \r\n\r\nBridge Church, grounded in the Gospel of the Kingdom theology, emphasizes relational depth, spiritual formation, and organic leadership transitions. While this approach fosters sustainable, mission-aligned growth, it faces challenges such as delayed multiplication and leadership fatigue, often influenced by life-stage constraints and strong relational bonds. In contrast, Green Hill Church adopts principles from the Church Growth Movement (CGM), prioritizing structured training, hierarchical efficiency, and rapid multiplication. Though effective in achieving numerical growth, this pragmatic approach can result in emotional strain, fragmented relationships, and premature leadership assignments.\r\n\r\nThe findings indicate that sustainable church multiplication requires a balance of theological integrity, relational trust, structured leadership pathways, and life-cycle sensitivity. Integrating the relational and theological depth of Kingdom theology with the strategic clarity of CGM offers a promising framework for growth. This project researches and addresses the problem that less than five percent of churches in the United States have a lay disciple making culture. The hypothesis is that a healthy church will have a minimum of thirty percent of its laity actively involved in life-on-life relational disciple making that creates a tipping point in the culture of the church. Key to this study is the idea that Jesus Christ and his method should take priority. For this reason, the title is Christ´s mission through the local church versus the church´s mission about Christ. The research investigates the biblical and theological background to missional disciple making. Literature was investigated regarding missional ecclesiology, sociological findings in connection with disciple making environments, and disciple making training methods. Three case studies of missional disciple making churches were researched. The research investigated questions of training, obstacles, structure, systems, culture, pastoral priorities and vision for lay missional disciple making in the local church. \r\n\r\nThe findings suggest that the local church can achieve the vital work of winning, building, equipping, multiplying and empowering laity to do the Great Commission. To achieve this ministry there must be clear definitions, processes, tracking, metrics, and simple reproducible methods. Significant shifts must take place in many churches to engage, train, and empower laity. When a disciple making culture is achieved there is an unlocking of ministry potential through the local church. When this happens the ministry leaders work can shift allowing for a change from ministry that is mainly seeing addition to multiplication on to movements of ministry. \r\n"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1830201268339998720,"timestamp":"2025-04-23T13:45:43.470Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-02-24T22:41:56Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-02-24T22:41:58Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"87fd824d-5983-47a8-8568-ebe176b8c494","accessControl_ssim":["b59db719-e972-4a4c-aca3-813d5810a7c0"],"depositor_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"title_tesim":["Praying Together: Hearing, Discussing, Practicing, and Applying the Lord's Prayer at First Evangelical Free Church of Sioux City Iowa"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-02-24T22:41:55Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-02-24T22:41:55Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["eadc42a0-bc8c-43ec-8a0a-51f00d6ff9a5"],"hasLease_ssim":["80c2136a-ebc6-4c22-86bb-5b0559990eb4"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity International University"],"year_tesim":["2025"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Evangelical churches in the modern era are no exception: while we often have solid processes for growing in our knowledge of scripture or for fellowship with fellow believers, rarely do we focus on growth in prayer. On the rare times when we do, such growth is often individual in nature rather than congregational. This imbalance is highlighted all the more when we consider that many of the existing works and programs addressing prayer are often written to address individual–rather than congregational–practices.\r\n\r\nThis project was primarily aimed at impacting the people of First Evangelical Free Church of Sioux City Iowa (Evangelical Free Church of America) in their practice of corporate prayer. This was done through two phases. The first consisted of an eight-week sermon series specifically focusing upon the Lord’s Prayer. The second phase of this intervention involved a nine-week workshop in which participants read and discussed selected prayers of the Bible alongside works from church history regarding prayer. These discussions then led into time spent praying in a group format, varying from 3-5 participants around a table to an entire workshop of 31 participants. The overall goal was to teach participants how the Lord’s Prayer provides both an example and a framework for biblical prayer in such a way that they could then apply that framework to other passages throughout the Bible in natural and contextually faithful ways.\r\nEvaluation surveys and interviews revealed that the interventions of this project were successful in their goals of making prayer part of how FEFC went about being and making disciples, and that growth was self-reported by participants in both individual and group contexts.\r\n"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1824980382784684032,"timestamp":"2025-02-24T22:41:59.007Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-01-21T04:59:29Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-01-21T04:59:32Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a4458bc3-044c-45a1-a516-a926e28d3b5e","accessControl_ssim":["52f2c53c-95dc-478b-8cae-811ef07852f4"],"depositor_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"title_tesim":["Missional Communities as a Strategy for Discipleship in an African-American Megachurch in Chicago"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-01-21T04:59:29Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-01-21T04:59:29Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["cc10984d-700d-49a9-9990-92ed1e7bce6a"],"hasLease_ssim":["624a60c2-ed49-4ab9-a2ec-ed4c2673049b"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry "],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity International University "],"year_tesim":["2024"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. It is transitioning out of the pandemic, wrestling with its apologetic and ministry response to a post-Christendom America amid a gentrifying community and in the nascent stages of pastoral change. Despite having existed since 1932 with a membership of 10,000 people, it is a Baby Boomer church looking to sustain and scale its reach. The church is a gospel-centered, grace-grounded ἐκκλησία with a legacy of evangelism and community advocacy. To continue its legacy, however, it must adjust its approach to discipleship by embracing a missional communities’ strategy that facilitates biblical literacy, relationship building, volunteerism, and gospel proclamation. These four elements of the missional communities’ model are derived from the practices of the Jerusalem church in Acts 2:42–47. Though not prescriptive, they offer a biblical framework for building the church’s communal life. The missional communities’ model is a repurposing of what worked when the church found itself on the margins of Judea’s religious and social life; the church grew stronger in the Scriptures, in κοινωνία, in mighty deeds, and in winning souls. This study offers promising data that focusing on these four areas of discipleship can lead to similar results as the early church. Those who participate improve their ability to understand and explain Scripture, develop genuine relationships with their fellow parishioners, volunteer at church and in their communities, and increase their confidence and ability to share their faith. Quantitative questionnaires, qualitative interviews, field observations, and researcher-generated documents validate the research. This triangulation of the data provides dependability to the researcher's findings and conclusions. The Apostolic Church of God has tested and proven the potential of the missional communities’ strategy. It is now positioned to duplicate this framework in its internal ministries and the zip codes where its members live."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1821833243364687872,"timestamp":"2025-01-21T04:59:32.972Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"D.Min.
