Lastly, I led a workshop to equip the faculty of Shoals Christian School with biblical integration skills. Two personal  goals were identified for this project. The first goal was to increase my knowledge in the field of biblical integration. The second goal was to increase my  skills in curriculum As the universal Church enters its third millennium of existence, magisterial leaders are calling upon communities of faith to discern the mission of Catholic institutions and their role in serving God’s Church and the world. If Catholic schools are to be successful in their mission, it is critical that clerical and lay school leaders align on what is meant by the term “Catholic identity” as well as identify shared characteristics of Catholic identity in faith-based school communities. With this in mind, several questions are raised: What, exactly, defines the identity and work of a “Catholic” school in contemporary times? Can interpretation of “Catholic identity” differ from one school to another? Who has the authority to set benchmarks for Catholic school identity? In what ways can Catholic identity be quantitatively measured to advance school improvement and deepen alignment to the mission of the Church? To what extent can we really know if our efforts to share the Gospel through Catholic education are successfully contributing to the mission of the modern Church? This command is at the heart of what should be the life mission of Christians today. Christians have found it increasingly difficult to execute this mission successfully for a variety of reasons. In today’s cultural environment, a level of resistance to the Word of God often renders conventional methods of sharing the gospel ineffective. In the face of this resistance, it is necessary for approaches to be developed by which unbelievers can be reached. These hurts motivate even Christians to develop unhealthymethods of repairing ourselves, independent of God. These unhealthy methods, which do not resolve the hurt, leave us living in a state of quiet despair and below a state offlourishing. Furthermore, almost all of us base our sense of identity on temporary things,including past hurts, which leave us vulnerable to anxiety. Currently, the culture in theUnited States has moved (and continues to do so) away from basic Christianity,particularly in family life where core beliefs are formed.The author is developing a Christian education program where students learn the key biblical principles of maturing in Christ,being married, and raising a family. The program has three parts: individual discipleship,marriage, and parenting. This research evaluated the effectiveness of the individual discipleship portion of this Christian education program and its contribution to the spiritual development among participants at selected area churches. This study utilized a mixed-method approach. Participants in the program participated in a survey (pre- and post-class). Selected individuals were part of focus groups. I anticipated that by participating in the program students would grow in their spiritual development through examining their life story, would have an improved understanding of their identity in Christ, and would exhibit a positive change in their expected sense of peace. As students examined their life story in light of God’s Holy Word, they would most assuredly find places where false identities had been errantly believed as truth. It was expected that when students confronted these misbeliefs and embraced God’s truth about their identity, they would experience a greater sense of peace. Fol l owing  this  random  path,  readers  may  or  may  not  end up  reading  the  entire  handbook. Either  approach  to  reading  this  handbook  is  acceptable because  of  the  handbook  structure .  Each  chapter  is independent .   Even  though  they  are  coordinated,  each  chapter can  stand  alone.  The  framework  of  each  chapter  is  similar. It  moves  from  a  general  understanding  of  the topic (Perspectives)  to  specific  suggestions  for  implementing the  topic (Guiding Principles) to three  examples  of  how  it  might  be  used  in  different  churches { Models).
