The methodology presented in this project is a combination of the following six components. The director of Church of God World Missions has vast practical experience at various levels of leadership. His desire is for a practical approach that has a large portion of training time taking place in an overseas or foreign context. The next area of focus concentrates on strategic leadership meetings. While much time has been spent consulting with Church of God World Missions, other key departments have been consulted within our denomination as well. The third area of impact on the methodology of this project is the literature review. Various sources have been used including lecture notes, books, and dissertations on holistic discipleship. In addition, the literature review gathers specific information for the missionary training manual that is not a part of this dissertation project. Another major factor that influences this project is my past ten years of experience in leading a discipleship training program. These years of experience play a crucial role in shaping the discipleship component of the missionary training paradigm. The fifth major area that has shaped this project is the courses and faculty I have been exposed to at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Several professors taught modules that have helped establish a holistic discipleship structure to minister to the whole person. The final component is the data that was received from current Church of God missionaries that completed the design questionnaire. The data strongly validated the direction of our design as well as added to the training model in specific ways."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c654e922-76d0-4427-ac29-e286b7997781"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799718454407725056,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:34:26.731Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:32:19Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:19:39Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"e8924b35-2fd7-4b6d-aa36-a738100f1219","accessControl_ssim":["908e7142-8208-4482-9e22-732c2ed6a938"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Pastoral counseling and Pentecostalism: a personal theological journey"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:32:19Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:47:22Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["3445e5ba-d7e9-4f55-8ca9-bce1f31bacb8"],"hasLease_ssim":["e99a02bb-0253-4b64-abc5-72f57b03e065"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["John Patton"],"year_tesim":["2002"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Lloyd A Looney"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Theology, Pentecostal","Church of God (Cleveland, Tenn)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["One theological distinctive of the Church of God (Cleveland, Tennessee) is a belief that divine healing has been provided for all Christians in the atonement. A triumphalist theology emerged out of this belief that denies the hard paradoxes of faith and life. This dissertation examines the Church of God development of this triumphalistic faith practice and attempts to develop an expanded theological perspective and practice of ministry. This is conceptualized by examining several components of Paul Tillich's theology.
