Highlighted is the urgency of why intervention is necessary through the utilization of case studies. Throughout the project, field notes were collected.  At the conclusion of camp, follow-up interviews were held re-addressing the pre-camp interviews to quantify strengths and weaknesses for the campers, custodial parents and volunteers. Preparation involved research in understanding the larger culture of our country, Maslow's hierarchy of needs, the context of the ministry and understanding a clear theological purpose justifying the project. Some collaboration between the Jerusalem United Holy Church and other agencies was part of the project, especially in identifying the children and exposing them to positive experiences. The project involved training mentors for the children by use of a PowerPoint presentation and measuring the effectiveness with pre- and post-tests.
