This project identifies the issues of preaching readiness, develops a readiness formula, and provides for the preaching pastor a tool for structuring a personal readiness routine.  The research design combines an analysis of preachers in the Bible, a content analysis of homiletic literature, a readiness journal, dialogical interviews with preaching pastors, and a self-study instrument for preaching readiness field-tested by ten preachers. The foundation for the research is a biblical-theological investigation and an analysis of specific pastor's work in different eras of history.  Using a survey, the author collected data from pastors.  The survey targeted the amount of time spent during the work week in the following areas: administration, counseling, preaching/teaching, visitation and other pastoral duties.
