The thesis was that the church lived out of the 'peace' that Christ gave which included conflict in some instances. The method of study was to formulate a socilogical exegetical model of biblical exegesis, apply that model to two pericopes in 1 and 2 Corinthians, and develop a leadership Bible study emphasizing the cohesive functions of conflict discovered in the exegesis. This project addresses that conflict by exploring the possibilities of: 1) preventing it; 2) resolving it; 3) minimizing it; or 4) redirecting its energies in constructive ways. Learnings are tested by a microcosm representative of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Dayton, Ohio. They wrestle with the explosive issues of liturgical and charismatic renewal. Their inductive approach results in findings that are legitimated in the crucible of actual experience. They conclude that ways can be developed to help a congregation deal effectively with renewal related conflict."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["United Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["f0f9c284-37b6-440c-96ab-39e6509e82ee"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128125888790528,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:54:51.053Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:15:35Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:41:58Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"58812d42-cd17-4557-92db-289a788eeba4","accessControl_ssim":["25239f75-cbef-4792-9d80-843b751ffa78"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Exploring conflict and its resolution with early adolescents in an outdoor Christian education setting"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:15:34Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:43:39Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["118f3151-f852-44e3-87a3-ef45fb1afc72"],"hasLease_ssim":["86da42d9-bc9a-499b-94e0-c20cc80ffd72"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Candler School of Theology"],"year_tesim":["1985"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Daniel William Elliot"],"keyword_tesim":["Practice (Theology)"],"publisher_tesim":["Candler School of Theology of Emory University"],"subject_tesim":["Kohlberg, Lawrence, 1927-1987","Youth","Fowler, James W","Erikson, Erik H. The thesis is that an enlightened understanding of conflict and the development of certain communicative skills can significantly affect how the parishioner perceives conflict and thus how he or she will behave in conflictive situations thereby reducing the strained interpersonal relationships and alienation that often follows in the wake of the conflict. A conflict skills curriculum was developed for the Ardmore Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Participants were volunteers from the congregation who met weekly for a total of 8 sessions. They were tested prior to the seminar and again at the end. A control group was used for the purpose of comparison. The question addressed was, Will a seminar on conflict change the participants' attitude and feelings about conflict. Results indicated a significant change in the attitude of the treatment group toward conflict."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Andrews University"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4b1d9df2-25d6-46f6-a889-1871c277d61c"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791135300332814336,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:48:53.135Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":15,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
