Using the concept of 'levels of truth' from Anne Wilson Schaef's book, Women's Reality, as the organizational backbone, three levels of relationships are addressed.  Level one outlines the congruent interface between psychotherapy and spiritual direction where emotional needs and the spiritual search are one in the same.  Level two outlines the incongruent areas where both disciplines stand in a relationship of tension.  Four areas are explored: awakened consciousness, ego-negation, self-knowledge, and discernment.  The bridge building chapter integrates the theory of Winnicott, Rizzuto, and Meissner with the thinking of Needleman, Edwards and Jones.  Level three is a synthesis of both disciplines.  The common meeting ground is in Winnicott's 'potential space'."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["63ab0f5c-c5fb-460c-b8ba-dd2fd91f7145"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133371019034625,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:18:13.199Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:05:04Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:18:37Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"449f466f-cf9d-4b33-91a8-1de3ccb93622","accessControl_ssim":["f45b1a92-2979-4b1c-83de-19fef069438c"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The unconscious and its role in spirituality"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:05:03Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:07:29Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["c6e5dc00-f585-442d-8e4e-4c7539c413b3"],"hasLease_ssim":["31b0a492-ead1-49d2-9509-dabccec20da1"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"advisor_tesim":["Paul Huss"],"year_tesim":["1986"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["William Ralph Macera"],"publisher_tesim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"subject_tesim":["Consciousness","Spiritual formation","Jung, C. The method of research is historical and begins with a survey of some literature regarding the origins of consciousness from the unconscious.  A study of the human personality according to C G Jung is presented to provide a framework for describing the dynamics of the human personality, conscious and unconscious.  A chapter on dreams, symbols and religious experience locates their origins in the unconscious and studies their significance for personal and spiritual development.  A brief history of western Christian spirituality is surveyed, indicating a reverence for the unconscious as a source of spiritual growth and personal integration. The spiritual journey foster s a symbolic level of consciousness in order to attach a symbolic meaning to religion, scripture, church, dogma and ritual.  This is the foundation for Christian spirituality as the twenty-first century approaches."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["63ab0f5c-c5fb-460c-b8ba-dd2fd91f7145"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133399291789313,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:18:40.162Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":5,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Resource Type"},{"name":"creator_sim","items":[{"value":"John J McCabe","hits":2,"label":"John J McCabe"},{"value":"Anne Beattie-Stokes","hits":1,"label":"Anne Beattie-Stokes"},{"value":"Laurel Artress Ulrich","hits":1,"label":"Laurel Artress Ulrich"},{"value":"William Ralph Macera","hits":1,"label":"William Ralph Macera"}],"label":"Creator Sim"},{"name":"contributor_sim","items":[],"label":"Contributor"},{"name":"keyword_sim","items":[],"label":"Keyword"},{"name":"subject_sim","items":[{"value":"Consciousness","hits":5,"label":"Consciousness"},{"value":"Psychology","hits":4,"label":"Psychology"},{"value":"Change (Psychology)","hits":2,"label":"Change (Psychology)"},{"value":"Spiritual exercises","hits":2,"label":"Spiritual exercises"},{"value":"Ego (Psychology)","hits":1,"label":"Ego (Psychology)"},{"value":"Faith development","hits":1,"label":"Faith development"}],"label":"Subject"},{"name":"location_sim","items":[],"label":"Location"},{"name":"language_sim","items":[{"value":"English","hits":5,"label":"English"}],"label":"Language"},{"name":"publisher_sim","items":[{"value":"Andover Newton Theological School","hits":2,"label":"Andover Newton Theological School"},{"value":"Saint Paul School of Theology","hits":2,"label":"Saint Paul School of Theology"},{"value":"St Stephen's College (Delhi, India)","hits":1,"label":"St Stephen's College (Delhi, India)"}],"label":"Publisher"},{"name":"date_created_sim","items":[],"label":"Date Created"},{"name":"types_sim","items":[{"value":"Text","hits":5,"label":"Text"}],"label":"Type"},{"name":"year_sim","items":[{"value":"1986","hits":2,"label":"1986"},{"value":"1991","hits":2,"label":"1991"},{"value":"2009","hits":1,"label":"2009"}],"label":"Year"},{"name":"format_sim","items":[],"label":"Format"},{"name":"member_of_collections_ssim","items":[{"value":"Miscellaneous","hits":3,"label":"Miscellaneous"},{"value":"Andover Newton Theological School","hits":2,"label":"Andover Newton Theological School"}],"label":"Collections"},{"name":"degree_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":5,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Degree"},{"name":"discipline_sim","items":[],"label":"Discipline"},{"name":"degree_granting_institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Andover Newton Theological School","hits":2,"label":"Andover Newton Theological School"},{"value":"Saint Paul School of Theology (Kansas City, MO)","hits":2,"label":"Saint Paul School of Theology (Kansas City, MO)"},{"value":"St Stephen's College (Delhi, India)","hits":1,"label":"St Stephen's College (Delhi, India)"}],"label":"Degree Granting Institution"},{"name":"department_sim","items":[],"label":"Department"},{"name":"funder_name_sim","items":[],"label":"Funder Name"},{"name":"event_title_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Title"},{"name":"event_date_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Date"},{"name":"institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Atla RIM","hits":5,"label":"Atla RIM"}],"label":"Host Institution"}],"pages":{"current_page":1,"next_page":null,"prev_page":null,"total_pages":1,"limit_value":10,"offset_value":0,"total_count":5,"first_page?":true,"last_page?":true}}}
