In order to discover the prominent features of our model, this project begins with a careful analysis of the diversities inherent in the early church from its origins. The movement's advocates, the author feels, have separated their activities from the consensus fidelium and have not defined ecumenism in terms of the church's tradition. Taking a traditionalist path of research, the author presents witness from the Bible, Councils, and fathers of the undivided Church for ecumenism as a movement integral to the church's covenant in the world.
