Analysis shows students approach confession in ways that preserve autonomy and guarantee outcomes. Students demonstrate a shallow awareness of a biblical/theological rational for confession of sin. It was hypothesized that the incorporation of biblical teaching and cultural aspects of forgiveness would provide a forgiveness paradigm that could increase the motivation to forgive among the target community. However, the increase of scores in the willingness to forgive after the workshop was not statistically significant. In this passage God promised that if his people would humble themselves, pray, seek his face, and turn from their wicked ways, he would in turn forgive and restore them to a proper relationship with himself. The participants in this study were Christian women from various denominations who had experienced an offense that they found so egregious that it impacted their ability to move forward. The project examines human and divine forgiveness. Using the Scriptures, workshops, movies, writings and one-on-one counseling sessions with these participants, the dissertation also defines some of these offenses as they relate to similar offenses in the Bible. The 'Parable of the Sower' model will help do this.  Process:  Students were exposed to biblical stories and reflected upon them in light of the fifth petition of the Lord's Prayer in connection with Jesus' post-resurrection appearance command (John 20:23).  Changes in their answers to the same questions before and after the process were evaluated.
