The dissertation clarifies how to understand charisma and charismatic leadership in a way that helps founders to name a successor and maintain the integrity of their relationship with the followers. A review of leadership studies on charisma, charismatic leadership, and succession planning is the lens for analysis of the research on succession planning for Hillside Chapel and International Truth Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
