Working within the paradigm of the Quaker listening model, as described by activist and educator Parker J. palmer and others, the intentional use of a spiritually based therapeutic listening model is an effective tool used by the Registered Nurse (RN) in working with patients and their families in making decisions in critical care settings. The author used a phenomenological approach answering these two questions. Firstly: how do Filipino missionaries describe the effects of their training in terms of their cultural adjustments, spiritual lives, work with teams, and the outcomes of their missionary activities? Secondly: how do they describe their need of further personal and professional training?
