The foundation of understanding this question is rooted in his calling to lead the covenant community.  The minister is called by God not only to preach but also to serve as a leader of worship.  Many ministers surrender their role as worship leader to others and view their responsibility in worship to be limited to 'bringing the message'.  It is vital that every Presbyterian minister re-examine his role as the primary leader in worship as it is an important part of his calling. This is primarily due to the lack of education of new members, parents and children.  A strong emphasis upon individual response in one's faith journey cheapens the significance and value of the covenant community.  This thesis proposes a situation in which the congregation would have a strong understanding of infant baptism, confirmation, and the covenant community.
