The purpose of this project was to enhance the basic knowledge of the Bible and facilitate the spiritual growth of new believers through implementing a narrative Bible Study program at Calvary Korean Baptist Church in Los Gatos, California.  The ten-session course, designed and led by the project director, helped the participants gain an understanding of the main biblical principles. Using a combined approach that incorporated what was learned from a survey of pastors and what was learned from personal study, a three-month reading program was prepared. Four expository sermons were preached, utilizing what was gleaned from the reading program. Surveys were administered to six members of the researcher's parish after each preached sermon. This project aimed at encouraging Scripture reading in the Sunday worship service of C\u0026MA churches. It involved fifteen C\u0026MA pastors who used a three-month segment of a four-year Bible reading schedule, developed for this project. Each Sunday they read the assigned reading and material given to them to help them prepare for and introduce the reading. They then filled out a questionnaire, which attempted to evaluate their reactions and ideas concerning the three-month implementation period. They also filled out a short questionnaire three months after they completed the implementation period. This questionnaire sought to identify if they were still reading Scripture regularly in worship and why they were or were not continuing in this biblical practice. The CBR has two readings per week for a three year cycle. The first weekly reading follows the biblical narrative from Genesis to Revelation covering the main characters and themes in the Bible story. There is a year each for the Pentateuch, the Monarchy/Exile and the Gospels/Acts. The second readings are from the epistolary, prophetic, poetic or didactic material. The readings are introduced and connected with framing statements. The biblical and theological basis for regular Bible reading is established.  The psychology of habit and the application of motivational techniques provides a model for the promotion of behavioral change.  A specific year-long program of stimuli is designed to motivate the congregation of First Baptist Church to establish and maintain a daily habit of Bible reading.
