A cross-section of ministers from different levels of ministry and different age groups was selected. The project incorporated an eight-week Healing Care Group curriculum and a 15-question survey used to measure their responses. The results revealed a transformational change in the level of awareness of the group. The focus of the project was for participants to learn how to incorporate transparency into their daily lives through various teachings, practicing accountability, communicating true feelings, developing a deeper intimacy with God, and experiencing formational prayer. The author assessed the goals by using a rating scale. Data indicated that transparency was impacted significantly. The self-disclosure is that of first-person stories. Undergraduate Bible College student ministers often turn to their own lives as a source for sermon illustrations. Sometimes their self-disclosure lacks discretion. By paying attention to the self-disclosure critque form, student ministers can accelerate their maturity in disclosing with discretion in their use of first-person stories. Such preaching involves a measure of self-disclosure, providing identification between preacher and hearer. The author did qualitative research with men and women in recovery who were participating in Serenity Retreats, and who affirmed the need for a preacher's self-disclosure and awareness of recovery motifs. He also did similar research within a parish setting, with like results. He examined his own perceptions toward other preachers' self-disclosure by listening and evaluating twenty-five messages. He used self-disclosing stories and had a reflection group evaluate both self-disclosing and non-self-disclosing messages. The results were compared to a larger sample which evaluated one self-disclosing and one non-self-disclosing message. Action research utilizing an experimental and a control group tested the proposal that reciprocal self-disclosure acts as a catalyst in facilitating intimacy and individuality.  Pre- and posttests employed the Group Environment Scale and the Tennessee Self-Concept Scale.  Based on a significance level of .05, the experimental group revealed a significant increase in self-disclosure.  The control group did not. Neither group demonstrated significant statistical changes in intimacy and individuality.
