It is important to provide a relevant equipping program to transform the young-old from retiree to an active servant of God, thus to live their life fruitfully and meaningfully and accomplish the task given by God which serves to bless the middle old and old-old generation. This paper focuses on two main areas: the transformation principles through the study of the life of Moses from shepherd of the flock to the leader of the Israelite crowd, and a study of the equipping program of the Golden Army of Heaven (GAOH) and modifications of it to suit the Singapore context. This thesis argues that a greater number of youth can be retained if the preachers have a positive ethos with the youth. This thesis analyzes the Armenian evangelical community and outlines reasons for both negative and positive ethos. Through personal experience, interviews and surveys, a clearer picture of the role of the preacher emerges. This thesis-project was a leadership awareness study of the nature of power and authority in the role of pastoral leadership in which the biblical and theological perspectives on the issue of pastoral authority were explored. Ten husbands of female pastors in the House of God Church were identified to define their role as the 'first gentleman.' The methodology was approached from a pastoral counselor's perspective. The model is designed to engage church in society in ways which create a more effective church. Through qualitative research and considering the ministries of two illustrious, great African-American preachers, the dissertation demonstrates that congregational involvement in society increases church effectiveness, regardless of whether the style of ministry is priestly, as with Dr. J.H. Jackson, or prophetic, as was that of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The creation of an effective church in its fullness is, of course, a long-term assessment.
