Though resisted by most of mainstream Pentecostalism, it is the author's contention that 'Sonship' ideas heavily influence much of modern Pentecostal teaching. It identifies some leading ministries who were instrumental in establishing 'Sonship' within the mainstream of the Pentecostal Movement. A triumphalist theology emerged out of this belief that denies the hard paradoxes of faith and life.  This dissertation examines the Church of God development of this triumphalistic faith practice and attempts to develop an expanded theological perspective and practice of ministry.  This is conceptualized by examining several components of Paul Tillich's theology.
