In preaching, Christians, in the midst of chaos, seek historical consciousness by reappropriating tradition in the light of new paradigms. This struggle is made possible by language, regulated by Scripture, and served by the preaching ministry of transformative leaders. Transformation is presented as a journey from emanation to incoherence to reappropriation of tradition. Preaching is presented as a noisy call to transformation which depends on the choral listening of the assembly and the self-definition of the preacher. Preaching, as a way of life, epitomizes the Christian commitment to transformation."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Western Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["910240dd-6bfb-49cb-ab06-1b8de036aac8"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132480637501440,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:04:04.065Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:33:59Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:32:56Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"465ee56b-f91a-4974-b29c-1c9de0521113","accessControl_ssim":["fd541127-2e46-4618-98fb-49afb550879e"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The ecumenical movement in the Orthodox tradition of the one, holy, catholic and apostolic church: a survey \u0026 analysis"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:33:58Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:10:46Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["5283d1f9-2b0f-4d9b-968a-2659f1098a8c"],"hasLease_ssim":["ef0d37d7-d468-47a3-918f-fd559c24b6a8"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Louis Weeks"],"year_tesim":["1982"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Gregory C Wingenbach"],"publisher_tesim":["Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Tradition (Theology)","Orthodox Eastern Church","Ecumenical movement--Theory"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Officially a priority the past sixty years, the ecumenical movement lacks a convinced constituency among the Orthodox faithful--indeed, among Christians as a whole. Taking a traditionalist path of research, the author presents witness from the Bible, Councils, and fathers of the undivided Church for ecumenism as a movement integral to the church's covenant in the world.
