The strategy defined the goals needed to evangelize and discipline young adults and to initiate the transformation of the culture at TBCC toward becoming one that actively seeks young adults. During the past decade, at SAUMC, the need to reach the next generation has reached a critical point. The community around the church holds multiple mosaic identities which identifies which were utilized in developing the strategy to reach this narrowed demographic. Current literature on the topic and strategic planning assist in identifying key methodologies St. Andrew's can implement. The millennial generation desires a church that reflects ancient aspects while blending contemporary distinctiveness. This change in ministry thinking, style, and context provides the church with the perfect opportunity to evolve. This project identifies strategies utilized by churches that are successfully reaching the largest and most unchurched population in the United States. James Fowler's faith development theory, James Marcia's identity development theory, and Marcia Baxter Magolda's self-authorship work provided the theoretical support of the author's research. Through interviewing young adults who are actively engaged in five emerging church communities using Portraiture, this research would disclose common resonances among them that were generative and exportable. The researcher used case study and grounded theory to generate data.  The results suggested a model that should contain five elements.  Pastors must train current leaders in transformational self-leadership.  Second, trained leaders must invite young mentees into a mentoring relationship. Third, all parties must agree on the goals.  Fourth, there must be regular meetings between the mentor and the mentee. This study focused on three key areas that affect how pastors minister to the parents of apostate emerging adults: the religious lives of emerging adults, biblical and theological concerns regarding baptism, apostasy, and covenantal status of children, and policies churches have employed to minister to apostate young adults and their parents. This study utilized a qualitative design using semi-structured interviews with Reformed pastors in the Northwestern United States.
