The goal of the project was to demonstrate a model of followup which would provide believers with nurture and support.  Two towns were targeted for a structured followup program in which new converts were discipled by a trained worker.  The towns indicated enough potential for improvement to warrant employment of a full-time followup worker. The multi-faceted approach included: the design and use of a semantic differential test (before and after) to determine the shifts in attitude; the cognitive goals of sermons, books, and discussions; the first-hand exposure to WCCC and a successful Maryland application; and the official vote of the congregation to shift to this model of ministry.  MCC was not sufficiently dissatisfied with the status quo to motivate them to make the large-scale changes necessary to adapt this model. The churches are more informed about the biblical and denominational directives for church growth. It proposes an understanding of ritual inclusive of non-traditional, newly formed, and experience-specific ritual expression.  The project data, derived from two groups, each meeting for six sessions, supports the thesis that individuals are able to fashion and enact meaningful rituals expressive of shared experience and beliefs.  Further, such ritual expression contributes to a holistic, personal and communal growth in faith. The initial data were generated by a questionnaire specifically designed and directed to the fourteen congregational owners.  A provincial status was then developed and circulated, accompanied by a survey validation document. This thesis provides a model for introducing church history to the local church through a vacation Bible school.  The curriculum has been written for kindergarten and elementary ages and focuses on the lives of six influential men and women of faith.
