As an agent of the church, the Catholic school shares the Church's mission of passing on the faith to youth.  Maturing in faith is both a personal and a communal journey.  Personal maturity in faith is nurtured and reached through community. In the educational environment this occurs when there is collaboration between leadership and board members.  This study sought to assist local administrators to become transformational leaders who will initiate a program and process to strengthen boards.  The result illustrated that the attitudes and skills of transformational leadership are needed to create any effective and participative group. This meant providing tools to assist people to envision the nature and function of the church and then to formulate a plan to assist believers in increased participation in the ministry of the church in the power of the Holy Spirit. Twenty-eight members attended the two-day training session. The result was that participants recognized the need and committed to more personal involvement in ministry. Two sample small groups were used for the ten-week project: a pilot group and a parallel group.  The pilot group consisted of seven members who were secured through private invitation. The parallel group's involvement was limited to taking the same pretest and posttest as the pilot group. It used centers in a club format, rather than a traditional Sunday school organization.  The centers focused on storytelling, music, drama, crafts, and instructional games.  The project lasted nine weeks.  The goals were to increase attendance, biblical knowledge, and worker morale.  Biblical knowledge increased by an average of 58 percent, comparing the pre- and posttest scores of a control group.  Attendance increased 13 percent over the same period in Sunday school the previous year. For four weeks the pastor utilized sermons, bulletins, announcements, and newsletters to inform.  Group leaders were trained in a retreat format. For three months, five groups met in homes twice each month.
