Doctrine I is a required course in the In-Ministry Master of Religious Education program of the Southeast Asia Extension Program. The course was taught at the four seminar sites of SAEP (Manilla, Ilolio City, Hong Kong and Bangkok), with twenty-seven students participating. A pretest-posttest design was followed using two equivalent tests. The data gathered was also used to compare the scores of Bible college and secular college graduates, to study the educational value of detailed lecture notes compared to outline notes, and to compare the scores of three groups by nationality. The posttest scores were sufficiently higher than the pretest scores to show the overall effectiveness of the course. The results from the three subproblems were not conclusive."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["8322f611-a593-413a-8bcd-0011fba52dc7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129799615315968,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:21:27.243Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T03:17:56Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:38:28Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"c063ab1f-56c9-46db-a01e-4c6e2ef7a751","accessControl_ssim":["a92862e6-75ef-4ef3-babc-5bffb6fd2272"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Case studies of pastoral leadership in the church, number 10"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T03:17:55Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:40:08Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["0e338c4d-1b62-47bd-ad8f-669c5433eb34"],"hasLease_ssim":["be69fdc2-6b79-437d-be98-ccd10c5ef00a"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["John W Reed"],"year_tesim":["1994"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["William Breuer"],"publisher_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Clergy--Psychology"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The case studies contained in this dissertation were designed to test the following hypothesis: an effective Christian leader maximizes his strengths, minimizes his limitations and consistently grows in Christlike character while influencing others to develop and accomplish a common vision. The hypothesis reads: an effective Christian leader maximizes his strengths, minimizes his limitations and consistently grows in Christlike character while influencing others to develop and accomplish a common vision. In this dissertation two pastors of visibly growing churches were selected as subjects for evaluating the Project Cathedral hypothesis. Through the use of aquestionnaire, an evaluation tool, on-site observations and church documentation, data were collected, analyzed and interpreted for each case study. Based upon the evidence presented, both subjects in these case studies validate the Project Cathedral hypothesis for effective Christian leaders. The long-range goal of Project Cathedral is to develop tools to help pastors be more equipped in analyzing their gifts, character development and vision, evaluating their ministry skills and assessing action steps needed for improvement of leadership. Included are recommendations for future case studies that are part of this project."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["8322f611-a593-413a-8bcd-0011fba52dc7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131236700258304,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:44:17.754Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T03:17:56Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:48:08Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"6d8c5aca-3757-44ff-87b2-0c0345a969e4","accessControl_ssim":["efd7494c-fe2c-4eed-b91c-5e7e3f8a1199"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["An attempt to increase the Lord's Supper attendance at Willowdale Seventh-day Adventist Church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T03:17:55Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:20:27Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["3c5893a6-591f-4c20-ab73-ee2c5213e02a"],"hasLease_ssim":["72576505-b8d8-4d99-8f21-c22d023b99f3"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Andrews University"],"advisor_tesim":["Abraham Ternen"],"year_tesim":["1993"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Adam R Bujak"],"publisher_tesim":["Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary of Andrews University"],"subject_tesim":["Lord's Supper--Frequency of communion","Lord's Supper--Seventh-Day Adventists"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this project was to increase the attendance at the Lord's Supper by generating a deeper appreciation of this sacrament among a particular congregation. To discover the individual perceptions of the congregation regarding the theology and practice of the Lord's Supper, a comprehensive survey was prepared and administered. Results indicated that factors contributing to low attendance include: a lack of understanding of its theological significance; feelings of unworthiness; unresolved differences with fellow believers; and footwashing. Four sermons informed by the studies in Scripture, the writings of Ellen G White, and non-Adventist literature, were then preached. Results of a second survey indicated that changes in attitude are a slow process. Key finding was that health care providers make decisions based mostly on philosophical grounds rather than on technical/medical issues."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129348492754944,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:14:17.019Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T03:17:28Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:36:17Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"ec8e1c20-9967-4c04-a940-e25ce9f860da","accessControl_ssim":["d8ec93d4-c9db-41c0-9fad-907e74b07ab5"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The use of narrative in sermon preparation: relating the stories of the listener, the preacher and God"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T03:17:27Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:53:29Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["2bab4485-4e63-4ae2-b4d5-ad932f4fd896"],"hasLease_ssim":["a6c1e74c-f6a8-422e-849c-ec7bae220ba9"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wycliffe College"],"advisor_tesim":["Paul Scott Wilson"],"year_tesim":["1993"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Patrick G White"],"publisher_tesim":["Wycliffe College"],"subject_tesim":["Narrative theology","Sermon preparation"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This study examined a method which incorporates personal narrative in the preparation of sermons.
