This study sought to develop and test a model to train church planters in Eastern Europe.  This model was built around the multiplication mechanism found in 2 Timothy 2:2. A biblical study of church planting was done to establish a basis for the model and provide materials for teaching a church planting course. The hypothesis states that an effective Christian leader maximizes his strengths, minimizes his weaknesses, and develops in Christlike character in order to attract others to accomplish a common vision.  To validate the hypothesis, two leaders were chosen who pastor visibly successful churches.  Through the use of questionnaire, the Personal Profiles System (Performax), on-site observation, and church documentation, the case study ascertained whether the senior pastors were operating from a strength-based methodology.  Questions focusing on the five areas of the hypothesis were asked of the senior pastor, two staff members, two board members, the pastor's spouse, and twenty-five members of the congregation chosen at random. Many existing programs of evangelism emphasize the knowledge and experience of the presenter of the gospel.  The emphasis of this project will be on recognizing and ministering to the needs of the receiver of the gospel message, the international student.  The eleven-session project includes two evaluation sessions and one session on the biblical basis for evangelism among international students.  The remaining nine sessions are designed to train American students to develop personal relationships with internationals.  These relationships should become channels through which the gospel is communicated. Training sessions will include information that will prepare the participants to communicate cross-culturally. Participants will also be trained to develop relationships by ministering in three specific areas.  These areas include physical, relational, and spiritual needs. A six-week Bible study on the epistle to the Romans was employed as a paradigmatic tool (model and story) for change. Dividing the participants into groups patterned after projected Christian locations in first-century Rome, the pastor alternately discussed Paul as a paradigm for herself, and guided the participants in discussing the epistle text. It was based on II Timothy 2:1-2, and the theology and methods of discipling used by Paul, the early church, and John Wesley's early Methodist class meetings. It incorporated learnings from Evangelism Explosion, Walk to Emmaus, and a previous discipling model.  Evaluation indicated that disciple-making contributed to personal growth in evangelism and discipleship.
