To accomplish this task, open-ended interviews with seven women in the 73-78 year-old range have been conducted: two married, two single, two widowed, and one divorced. Additionally, there have been conversations with the daughters of a second divorced woman who died before the scheduled interview. Through development of a mission statement, recruiting lay involvement in mission, and increasing financial giving to the congregation, the thesis was validated by results. There were also intentional efforts to increase the outreach proportion of spending.  The project uses case study approaches, looking at the efforts carried out within the target congregation. This was a qualitative study using a stratified sample of six Sisters who had been sexually abused as children and had engaged in some form of pastoral counseling regarding this issue.  The results indicated that the convent was not always a safe place, that pastoral counselors have not always addressed the issue of sexual abuse, and that most of the participants have used the process of pastoral psychotherapy to recommit to religious life. The committee was exposed to the Hebrew Scriptures' understanding of the steward as the responsible householder of all creation and the Christian Scriptures' emphasis on Jesus Christ as God's chief steward.  After studying the nature of human identity and transformation, the committee then helped plan a sermon series on stewardship, recruited and conducted a sermon response group, and formulated a fall financial campaign. Although the basic ethos of the Korean people is exulted spirit, they cannot experience this in such worship.  To overcome this problem, a lively worship model, based on research on the theology and history of Christian worship, and on relevant aspects of Korean culture, was developed and utilized for three months in the Masan Bahn-seok Methodist Church. Twenty-six clients of 4 pastoral Gestalt therapists and 26 clients of 5 non-pastoral Gestalt therapists were compared using both quantitative and qualitative methodology.  The findings revealed that clients name God as a significant part of their life.  This naming by the clients indicates that those engaged in Gestalt therapy can articulate having a spiritual awakening and/or religious experience while in therapy.  The naming was more explicit with a pastoral Gestalt therapist. The project developed the African interdependent model, a multi-dimensional approach in which pastoral diagnosis and treatment is measured on a continuum of core relational dynamics.  The revisionist correlational model was used to correlate the thoughts of Althea J Horner and John S Mbiti. An African corporate personality is compared and contrasted with the desiderata of organization and self.  The project concluded that psychoanalytic object relations theory and African corporate personality theory can be complementary. It was grounded in the Genesis pericope in which Jacob wrestled with the ish at the Jabbok, which set cardiac crisis in the context of a life-and-death confrontation. Evaluation utilized a 'purpose in life' test given to a treatment group after participating in rehabilitation using pastoral intervention, and to a control group who had not experienced cardiac crisis. A significant relationship among these three elements, previously overlooked in the psychological and pastoral care literature, was hypothesized.  The psychoanalytic concept of transference and the theological use of metaphor were used to examine these connections.  Taking a qualitative research approach, the author interviewed four female pastoral counselors. Data was analyzed using six themes of sibling/work relationships which emerged in the literature review.
