Chapter 2 presents a biblical rationale for the research by using 1 Corinthians as an example of a church that had experienced transition.  Chapter 3 presents the behavioral and social science data that support the ministry project research on family systems.  Chapter 4 describes the implementation of the ministry project and the criteria that led the author to his conclusions. General information and self-esteem questionnaires were used with a study group and a control group.  Shamanism, Buddhism, Confucianism, and Christianity, as well as changes in a woman's position from the Shilla, Koryo, and Yi Dynasties, were factors which influenced self-esteem in a hierarchical, patriarchal society. Evaluation took place through a postseminar, objective examination, observation studies, and tape-recorded interviews. This project's goal was to present this design for families in an eleven-session intervention, thereby strengthening the family systems and their church.  The method of research included presentations, discussions, drama, and tests.  Conclusions were drawn from comparisons of pre- and posttests, which included scales for information and perception.  The results of the project were that while the knowledge about families increased significantly, the feelings about family changed less. 'The wheel of spiritual experience,' based on the spirituality typology proposed by Urban T Holmes in his book, A History of Christian Spirituality, was developed and tested.  Results show that the instrument is helpful in three ways. Chapter 2 discusses the development of the biblical model of the one-flesh relationship of marriage.  Chapter 3 uses research in the behavioral sciences to focus on the development of the marriage enrichment movement and ministry.  Chapter 4 focuses on implementation of a marriage enrichment program in Victory Baptist Church.  The social research tools used to measure growth in a couple's primary coping system as a result of marriage enrichment are also discussed. Chapter 5 presents a summary and evaluation of the ministry project. A mentorship program to train laity to preach in the context of the local church is an effective way to realize lay potential.  Biblical and theological principles that undergird an attempt to equip the laity were delineated.  Insights were gleaned from anthropology that inform efforts to communicate the gospel cross-culturally. The case study method was employed.  Equipping laity is risky and time-consuming, and results are not always immediately apparent.
