To fulfill this purpose, twelve church members were selected to participate in eight, two-hour seminars.  The first hour of the seminars dealt with eight foundational doctrines of Christianity.  The second hour of the seminars dealt with essential elements of evangelism and dialogical communication. The project's hypothesis was supported.  Diversity in the design and delivery of sermons increased the effectiveness of preaching communication with listeners of differing cognitive style preferences. Dissimilar sermon delivery styles differed substantially in their degree of appeal to persons with contrasting cognitive style preferences.  How contemporary neuropsychological findings have affected communication theory were explored. God-image is defined in this project as who God is, how God works in the world and how God feels about us.  A 'more developed' God-image must include a vulnerable side of God.  Particular emphasis was placed on the providence of God.  When it comes to the daily business of living, few subjects have greater pastoral implications and challenges than God-image.  The conclusions reached in this project were twofold.  First, what one believes about God is important. Jeremiah's exilic image and Jesus' command 'to make disciples' were the theological rationale. Chapter 3 presents an integrated (indigenous and missionary) education, which the researcher terms palmedic.  Chapter 4 was facilitated through a study group, a questionnaire, interviews, workshops (one in Liberia and another at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary).  The researcher's analysis called for commitment, envisioning a community shared-story approach to Christian education. Through administrative changes, promotions, and incorporating the library into the general function of the education ministry, this project received measurable success.  The only limitation of the project's success was that it had little impact on those who were not involved with the education ministry (e.g. Sunday school, Wednesday evening Bible study, etc). The project adapted Jackson Carroll and James Hopewell's process for congregational study using both research instruments and guided interviews with small groups to develop a church's identity story.  A theoretical base for using story in local church ministry was presented. A narrative of the small group's interaction and reaction to the production of a story of identity was provided. Two separate studies were conducted during the project.  An eight-week course for youth looked at biblical perspectives on self-esteem.  A ten-week class for parents surveyed ways to provide a positive environment within the home.  Questionnaires provided before and after the studies revealed that improvement was evident.
