The church belongs to Jesus Christ and therefore all functions of the church must be built on a foundation rooted in spiritual disciplines of faith.  The four phases of the project included a congregation council leadership training program, a retreat on spirituality for congregational leaders, a seminar to train leaders in prayer disciplines, and a program of small group studies on spiritual issues. The guide also may be used in advance of death to provide survivors information about choices and preferences.  Case studies of twenty-five people who, within the last three years, were primary survivors responsible for making arrangements were the principal data sources. Documentation is presented which shows that humor has therapeutic qualities. A holistic approach to worship and education can provide a community of shared memory for an individualistic society.  The worship education models for John Westerhoff, Robert Browning and Roy Reed are examined and critiqued in light of a Reformed theological and historical understanding. Expressional practical is developed as a Reformed model of worship and education which joins participation, symbol, reflection, and formation.  Options for implementation are offered. Recruitment and training of leaders for small groups is essential for this model to work. Generally, personnel witness has been replaced by a truncated, sterile proclamation of the gospel.  As a result, many people have a negative, stereotyped conception of what faith sharing is. This has contributed to a decline and hesistancy in sharing the Christian faith.  This dissertation explores ancient and modern models of faith sharing to determine how crucial personal witness is. A survey of representative Anglican theologians since Cranmer establishes a growth of teaching on eucharistic offering and sacrifice.  A parallel survey of the almost 100 revisions of the Anglican eucharistic rite illustrates the liturgical evolution of the offertory in Anglicanism.  Comparing the two developments shows clearly that the liturgical law so beloved of Anglicans 'lex orandi, lex credendi' is inapplicable; in this instance, at least, the formula should be 'lex credendi, lex orandi.'
