The hypothesis is that certain God representations are used to form beliefs that put persons at risk as either victims or perpetrators of family violence.  The paper uses two case studies to focus on three aspects of domestic violence: the physical, the psychological, and the sexual.  Rizzuto's God and Family Questionnaires are a diagnostic tool in this study. Assuming that some uses are better than others, the project seeks indices for evaluating materials, personnel and programs related to the lectionary. A form of factor analysis is judged the most appropriate method for discovering the indices.  An interpretive perspective is illuminated by a contrast between two distinct theological currents within contemporary Catholicism.  The lectionary is situated within one current, as are its appropriate religious education uses.  Data gathered in sixty-one interviews are reported and interpreted. Recommendations to increase lay involvement were formulated in the final two sessions.  The project was evaluated by the experimental and descriptive survey methods.
