M. E. Church, Yellow Springs, Ohio.  Through the use of sermons, Bible Studies, workshops, and music appreciation seminars, data was gathered and studied.  Included in this study was a six-month series of church music appreciation courses that was mandatory for all musicians, choir members, worship leaders, and ministers.  It was evaluated through a pre-course and post-course survey. The methodologies included education of membership and shepherds, selection of populations for cells, tally sheets of various contacts, questionnaires to both cell families and shepherds and reflection of the researcher.  The findings proved this ministry is needed in the context and transferable to the general church. Participants will attend a four-week program focusing on the liberation message as a critical component of social activism. A 'participant-observer' field method is used through the course of the study. A four-fold analysis (contextual, mechanical, organic, and symbolic) of a congregation's subculture aids the preacher in the work of ethnography.  The symbolic analysis is expanded to include seven congregational symbols readily accessible to the preacher.  The study utilizes story in reporting the findings that detail the congregation's unique world view, values, and ethos.  The study then explores the role of ethnography in sermon preparation and the preaching moment.  Members of the congregation participated in a parish project group to prepare and evaluate sermons.  Interventions were based on feedback from the project group, a congregational survey, and the effect of preaching on the congregation's vision for future ministries. With a renewed understanding of what it means to be a covenant community, members of this church have begun to find a balance in giving and receiving care and supported the implementation of a particular model for care involving the training and organization of individuals in small groups.  Interviews and focus groups assessed the results of educational objectives and the implementation of the model. This study identified a course of action for offering marriage enrichment to ministry couples.  A couples group was added to a Clinical Pastoral Education unit, an established course of study required by seminaries.  The method was a case study completed with six couples with pre and post testing.  While testing showed slight changes in the marriages, self report included many comments towards marital growth and management of ministry issues.
