It is my belief that spiritual growth will result in changed lives if there us proper application of the Word of God, in spite of circumstances or challenges. I want to examine my hypotheses regarding the relationship between expository preaching and spiritual growth among African American women of multiple generations. As means of determining how expository preaching, when appropriately applied, can lead to spiritual growth among multigenerational African American women, I used a variety of methods. I administered empirical studies, developed teaching curriculums, preached sermons, and received both written and verbal feedback from the women of Second Calvary Baptist Church between the ages of 26 and 80. The author's concern has been how ministries of pastors can be enhanced to understand the cultural context of their local congregations.  The author believes that the seminars conducted would give them new insights. A definition of discipleship was developed based on Jesus' model, history and current cultural realities. Eucharistic themes and practice were explored theologically and historically with an emphasis on a Wesleyan world view. The model presented in this study is that discipleship is to be the channel through which the themes of the eucharist are introduced into a believer's life. The process of developing a strategy included forming a strategy development team from local area ministers as well as lay church members who work with college students. This team was involved throughout the process of exploration, planning, development, and the preliminary stage of implementation. The process of implementation in regard to this project was to present the developed strategy to the Directors of Missions from Autauga, Elmore, and Montgomery associations as well as the Director of the office of Collegiate and Student Ministries from the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions. The rejection of approval of this project by the Directors of Missions and the Director of the office of Collegiate and Student Ministries will not determine the success of the project. The goal of this project is to develop and present a strategy. Preaching and teaching the Word of God are the cornerstone of Tabernacle Baptist Congregation. Christian education is for the church what water is for a fish. Sunday School plays a vital role in the church's programs. However, Sunday School evangelism has so far been neglected. Can Tabernacle Baptist Congregation have any potential for spiritual growth without the promotion of the Great Commission? The promotion of Sunday School evangelism at Tabernacle Baptist Congregation would enable the author of this thesis project to respond. A congregational profile will enable the author of this thesis project to discover the challenges that this church is facing in promoting Sunday School outreach. Major problem areas identified include the language used to describe biblical holiness and how to apply the subject to contemporary audiences. To address these problems a model continuing education course was designed and presented. Both pre- and postcourse evaluations of participants were conducted. To that end, this these constructs a pastoral storytelling methodology and guidebook. The pastoral storytelling methodology is focused on pastoral care situations such as in-office counseling, hospital visitation, and in-home visitation. But the methodology is not limited to use in formal counseling situations. It is designed so that it can be used any time and place pastoral care is needed.
