Ezra","Spiritual life--Christianity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This dissertation demonstrates that Ezra serves as an effective biblical model for the spiritual disciplines of confession, submission, and celebration for the modern pastor who is concerned for the spiritual growth and development of his congregation. This is seen through a critical analysis of passages in the books of Ezra and Nehemiah that demonstrate Ezra's practice of the discipline. Chapter 1 gives an introduction with the thesis, methodology, criteria for passage selection, deliminations, obstacles, goal, application to ministry, and theological considerations. Chapter 2 demonstrates and defends the thesis through a biblical critical analysis and theological study demonstrating the spiritual disciplines proposed and states a conclusion. Chapter 3 presents future plans of how these spiritual disciplines can be adapted for specific continued ministry. The research focuses on eight passages in 1-2 Corinthians where Paul speaks of his own suffering, determining how he suffered and how he responded to that suffering. Paul's responses are developed into 6 attitudes and 3 actions as the Christian's response to suffering. This openness has to be encouraged because of the withdrawal, isolation, silence, and anger they may face during their hospital in-patient experience. These behaviors and dynamics are frequently present and noticeable in their dying/death events. The end of a patient's life gives a chaplain the opportunity to provide pastoral care. This ministry geared toward Hispanics allows them to the the recipients of spiritual healing. The researcher engaged in historical research by uncovering relevant material for lectures on Calvin's ministry practices. Six areas were examined: Calvin as preacher, teacher, friend, shepherd, leader, and theologian. These lectures were presented in four separate settings throughout the United States. Nine pastors participated in the follow-up interviews. This study utilized a qualitative design using semi-structured interviews with seven pastors who had experienced transition within the past five years, entering churches that varied in size and cultural character while being in the same denomination. This study utilized a qualitative design using semi-structured interviews with seven Global University students at the East Africa School of Theology in Nairobi, Kenya. This study concluded that learning experiences indicated that greater explanation of difficult terms and concepts are needed. The research, following a literature review, engaged qualitative methodology through personal interviews guided by four research questions. These questions explored the participants' beliefs about inerrancy, their approaches to difficult texts, their methods of interpretation which were largely individualistic, and their reliance upon God's guidance in understanding texts. A qualitative study was carried out to explore the factors which encourage ministers to take sabbatical leave. This study suggests that the denomination needs to work at explaining the need for and benefits of sabbatical leave and to be more proactive in encouraging ministers.
