First, this dissertation demonstrates God's preparatory activity in general revelation. The first voyagers to Hawaii had a general knowledge of a supreme being. Second, this dissertation demonstrates God's use of historical events to present special revelation to the Hawaiians through the missionaries of the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions. Finally, this dissertation demonstrates the application of research findings toward the writer's present ministry at Puna Baptist Church. These research findings will revitalize Puna Baptist Church's evangelistic strategy. The new evangelistic strategy will utilize the historical fact that the first Hawaiian voyagers had a general knowledge of a later monotheistic supreme being, and this evangelistic strategy will reveal that the religious system was imposed upon the Hawaiians by a foreign entity. The research findings in this dissertation will revitalize the church's focus on discipleship and its assimilation process."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b2ad2862-737d-4dde-8145-b9b6962ac5f3"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133206925279232,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:15:36.707Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:24:53Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:49:39Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"1116b41f-8c33-4782-9b04-1d28ac56d08a","accessControl_ssim":["6192be0d-6986-416c-83fe-9817f971dfb3"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Theological anthropology: an evangelical defense of the doctrine of the human soul"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:24:50Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:37:11Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["aa044e63-dd85-4417-b974-334a9b3c11a8"],"hasLease_ssim":["b4eb02b5-5160-44fe-ad3d-2e4a05d286a3"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Thomas H Kiker"],"year_tesim":["2013"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["David A Sweet"],"publisher_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Mind and body","Monism","Theological anthropology--Biblical teaching","Theological anthropology--Christianity","Philosophical anthropology","Dualism (Religion)--Christianity","Soul--Christianity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This dissertation defends the biblical doctrine of the soul against anthropological monism, including non-reductive monism. Following the Ministry Skill Enhancement Model, the project director researched sermon invitations, including models, biblical rationale, and objections. The project director then developed his own model of a public invitation for expository sermons, with the public invitation as a natural extension of the exposition of the text. The project director used this model to write public invitations for six sermons delivered during regular worship services to the congregation at Old Zion Hill Baptist Church where the project director serves as pastor. The project director assembled a diverse group of individuals to evaluate the public sermon invitations. With the assistance of the field mentors, the project director examined the feedback from the evaluation group to determine the impact and effectiveness of this model."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5e492469-490e-44a3-90c1-17560a603bc2"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799716448099106816,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:02:33.366Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:24:53Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:09:25Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"bb34bd2f-3b01-49d7-a6f9-8d14d64aca8a","accessControl_ssim":["4ee36b88-ad2f-4e4a-bc5d-424fe83b7b04"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Why aren't more Christian college students active members of a local church and how the local church can effectively engage them"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:24:52Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:31:02Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["6afe444b-c945-4b75-93e1-85bc054bf0c3"],"hasLease_ssim":["0b1afd2f-fba6-4db7-8f7b-5fcb9e1dad43"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["W Michael Wilson"],"year_tesim":["2013"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Brad L Jurkovich"],"publisher_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Commitment to the church","Texas Tech University","Students--Religious life","Church work with students"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project was pursued in order to discern the attitudes of Christian students who attend Texas Tech University with regard to their desire to have or not to have a relationship with the local church. Finally, he proposes five ways in which believers should participate in preaching: abiding in Christ, preaching the Word, testing the Word, guarding the Word, and proclaiming the Word."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b2ad2862-737d-4dde-8145-b9b6962ac5f3"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132192456310784,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:59:29.234Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:24:20Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:48:08Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"08449fe8-3065-428b-9204-f08a2ab80b33","accessControl_ssim":["5625e6a0-84ea-46a8-8274-45f5cab18e29"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The homiletic function of the hortatory subjunctives in the Book of Hebrews"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:24:19Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:21:23Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["343b78bb-5902-438d-b594-541d18d8919c"],"hasLease_ssim":["a2ca35bd-869c-4ff0-91da-d9b6f65fc7ac"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Steven W Smith"],"year_tesim":["2013"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Johnny Nathan Davis"],"keyword_tesim":["Theory"],"publisher_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Preaching--Biblical teaching","Expository preaching","Bible. The author researched the exegetical clues within Hebrews to determine whether or not these influence the communication in preaching. He examined the author of Hebrews' words of encouragement compared to words of warning. He concluded that there is a philosophy of preaching within Hebrews that can be modeled by contemporary preachers. The goal was to make preachers aware of the exegetical demands within the study of Hebrews, demands that compel the preacher to call for life changes on the part of his listeners."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b2ad2862-737d-4dde-8145-b9b6962ac5f3"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131481602523136,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:48:11.311Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:24:20Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:39:27Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"578fc1ba-97ad-4993-bbfb-8472abbf27c3","accessControl_ssim":["38dd49ba-3aa7-49e3-a971-13593ee2de11"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Empowering head, heart \u0026 hands: a missional discipleship model for Australian church health, multiplication and social transformation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:24:19Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:42:15Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["3954e5aa-6162-44a5-a737-0482a6b4b186"],"hasLease_ssim":["54561319-b118-4643-bfc1-34536a4a6293"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Samuel R Schutz","David A Currie"],"year_tesim":["2013"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Nicholas N.E Gilmour"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Discipling (Christianity)","Mission of the church","Church and the world"],"language_tesim":["English"],"alternative_title_tesim":["Empowering head, heart and hands: a missional discipleship model for Australian church health, multiplication and social transformation"],"abstract_tesim":["The church in the West exhibits a lack of integration between orthodoxy, orthopathy and orthopraxy.
