This issue is due partly to the practice of local church autonomy, especially for Baptists in the Southern United States who were formed and part of the Southern Baptist Convention. This project focuses on the ordination practices of Cooperative Baptist Fellowship pastors in North Carolina and Virginia who locate themselves within this Baptist tradition. This report discovers which particular practices the pastors identified as meaningful in their ordination, most specifically which practices continue to sustain them in ministry today. This report explores the relationship between prayer and devotional practices and theories of personality type. It uses the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator as a primary instrument in determining what particular practices are beneficial and sustainable by the faithful. The aim of this study is to show churches can use a mentoring model to help experienced teachers transfer practical knowledge to trainees and multiply available, trained teachers. A secondary aim is to show that the mentoring model matches biblical principles. This study, through an integrative review and critical analysis of literature, explores the biblical, theological foundations of teacher training, surveys the development of teacher training in the church, and based on the Bible and history presents a model for teacher apprenticeship. The literature review and the case study reveal that collaboration is possible when ministries have a supporting entity that requires them to work together. This project concludes that a collaboration of churches can create a council, which will provide resources as an incentive to collaborate. He creates and teaches a curriculum on this topic in the faith community he ministers to. The goal of the curriculum is to invite to a different interpretation of the death of Jesus that appeals to critically thinking people of the 21st century. The curriculum challenges the participants of the study group by interpreting Jesus' death as martyrdom-as a consequence of his life and message. The author facilitated a series of seminar-workshops that were guided by two action research cycles and appreciative inquiry. Participant interaction during the workshops provided data which was supplemented by focus groups, natural observation and interviews. Positive mentoring relationships have been initiated that promise to lead to a mentoring culture in the context.
