In compliance with that commission, passion and action are the two sides of the coin for Christians. Passion is the heat for evangelism, while action is the light for evangelism. However, though Christians in Hong Kong have passion for evangelism, the church has no significant growth. A 65-question research tool was sent to 100 pastors and church leaders in churches of different sizes and ages. Bible application is prescriptive. What happens when the preacher faces a multiethnic audience? How can the preacher communicate the truth of scripture, if the audience doesn't share the common characteristics that facilitate communication and understanding? Pastor as peacemaker is to be a program-centered project consisting of twelve written lectures intended for a one unit (12 hour) course to be taught as an interim course at a reformed seminary (e.g., a weeklong course, four days three hours per day). Research was three-fold: anaylsis of a biblical and theological doctrine of reconciliation, contemporary Alternative Dispute Resolution(ADR) theory and methods, and by way of student evaluation. The result was an effective theology and method of training pastors to be peacemakers in their churches. Interviews described servant-leaders who exemplified the categories found in Jenning's and Stahl-Wert's book, The Serving Leader. The study concluded that, overall, the DCP-CMN program fulfilled Geneva College's Mission Statement. Lack of basic HIV/AIDS knowledge, risky behavior, religious conservatism, stigma, fear of status being exposed to other community members, and socioeconomic issues are some factors that contribute to the spread of HIV/AIDS within African-American populations. African Americans have close ties to the church, but the African American churches, until recently, have been slow to address HIV prevention. Several successful churches and faith based/public health collaborations were identified, with some limitations within these programs discussed, but too many are doing nothing. This study examines the community churches and reviews the empirical literature on faith-based HIV prevention programs among African American populations.
