The questions on the survey are based on my experience leading a merger of three churches. The completed surveys showed at least ten areas that the majority of churches had in common and may thus indicate the potential of a successful merger. The study explored lived experiences with the objective of developing an innovative formation model. The study resulted in the development of formation concepts which would support Christian men who are attempting to live out their full redemptive potential. Using a qualitative case study method, observations from the wight men were presented in a conversational sequence, and then analyzed for significant themes that were unique to the discipleship experience. The means to spiritual growth were identified, as were the hindrances to spiritual growth. There were three main steps in reaching this goal: the exegesis of biblical principles to find the model of Jesus' incarnational ministry, the exegesis of the Thai Buddhist context, and the development of a Thai contextualized model for building an effective ministry. The findings from field studies supported the library research about the belief system of the Thai Buddhist students and their value orientations. A questionnaire distributed to these chaplains recorded the effectiveness of the self-care program upon their emotional, behavioral, and spiritual resiliency. The project revealed that the self-care program had a positive effect on their behavior and emotional resiliency, and some impact on their spiritual resiliency.
