The process of the study included interviews with denominational executives, a study of 2 Timothy 3 and 4, and two surveys of the effectiveness of the pastors in the Pacific Conference of the Evangelical Church. A general prescription for improving preaching effectiveness and personal prescriptions for improving preaching effectivness were given between the two surveys. The properly trained and prepared church is the perfect culture for recovery from addiction to occur. Assuming that 'all truth is God's truth,' this dissertation is designed to gather science that is compatible with scripture, and integrate as a theology of addiction and recovery. Neuroscience, as well as psychological and sociological truths, helps demonstrate the importance of the church in addressing this issue. The dissertation is multi-method: interdisciplinary, integrative (science and theology) and ethnographic (addict and recovery cultures). The study used an integrated approach, combining archival and survey methods. Five theoogical issues are explored as they inform partnership. They are the Trinity, the purpose of God (missio Dei), the body of Christ, the gifts of the Spirit, and the church -- both local and universal. A survey was used to have attendees of the CAR Consultation reflect on these theological issues in the context of partnership. Father Judge promoted a particular spirituality to support his missionary movement. He centered that spirituality on a 'devotional knowledge' of the major mysteries of the faith, particularly devotion to the Trinity. This study creates a dialogue between the charism of Father Judge and the work of contemporary theology. Theological developments are shown to supplement and support the founding insight of the Cenacle charism. The author researched spiritual formation theory and Native American culture and Christianity. college and congregation might work together to prepare such impact of Hurricane Ivan on the Westport community in Jamaica, the suffering that followed, and the residents' fear that God had abandoned them. The project, carried out with ten residents of the Westport community, explores the relationship of God to suffering. Qualitative research methods help to understand the religious beliefs of respondents, disaster preparedness, and the effect the hurricane had on residents. What makes this retreat and The Sourcebook unique is that it integrates the Hindu chakra system and world spiritual traditions. The chakra system is an ancient belief that there are energy centers in the body that govern daily activity. The author used a qualitative research method for gathering data. Personal interviews from pastors faced with this dilemma, plus questionnaires and interviews from his family, churches and communities, where he pastored with his disabled wife, played a significant role in his research. As well, an archival research into the effects and challenges facing caregivers and their families added to his insights.
